Good morning fellow Audi lovers, so I have a tale of woe, most of it my fault for not taking precautions but hopefully my story may stop someone else on here getting scammed by the same bloke.

Two weeks ago I put up a wanted ad for a sprint blue parking sensor, a user called 'inch1' sent me a PM saying he had one and we agreed a price, the guy seemed genuine and I foolishly paid him via a bank transfer.

Anyway Ive not heard a peep from him since, Ive sent him a few messages but havnt had a reply and I know he has been on the forum to see them so I'm assuming he is a scammer.

I realise I was a fool to do a bank transfer and I should have paid via PayPal but I guess Im a trusting type of person, I know I'll probably never see my money or the sensor but I thought I would put up a quick post just incase anyone else is considering buying stuff from him.

BTW I needed a name for the bank TX, I assume the one he gave me is genuine as its linked to his bank account, it's Tony Drysdale.

Stay safe.

Rog.

Please message Sandra, I'm sure she'll message him about this, there maybe a valid reason even if he's visible on here.

If you need a sensor & painted, I maybe able to resolve & PayPal is fine, WhatsApp me if of interest ;)

He gave me a different email and name! We’ve definitely been scammed!!! *******!!!
What name has he given you, also what details of amount/ method of payment etc pm me please

I’m sure your bank will cover you for this!
My Natwest account was covered for goods not received

Really!? I need to sort this as soon as I can! How did you go about things chap?
Just give them a call and explain your situation...then they’ll ask you to fill out an online form giving date of purchase, amount etc

I have messaged Sandra regarding this. I have also messaged the two of you updating you on the situation. So to say you have not ‘heard a peep from’ me is a complete ridicule. I have all of the messages to each other in my inbox.

Why haven’t we received the items then and why have you given different names!?

Your item was only posted 2 days ago in which you know about as I sent you a PM to confirm this. It is now bank holiday weekend. With this Covid 19, postage is also going to be slightly delayed.

I work for a race team. The different names are because you sent it to my partner.

I will keep all communication from now via PM.

You’ve been absolutely terrible to communicate with as soon as the money was transferred. You’ve given me a mobile number that is always on answer phone! A different name and email address ! Why would you give different details even if you are apart of a race club I just don’t get it!? If you’re completely genuine then you’ll pick the phone up and speak over the phone!?

Absolutely. Please supply me with your phone number and I will call you shortly.

Sending me threatening PMs will not change the situation. It’s bank holiday weekend and I wouldn't expect anything to be with you until atleast Tuesday.

Glad this has started to resolve, thanks Sandra.

The key bud was in my words, started to resolve, not resolved ;)

I'm sure it'll be fine now.

It’ll be fine when I get my money back! Not going to be easy now with it being through bank transfer but that’s my fault! This scum bag will get what’s coming to him as I believe in karma and it works in mysterious ways! Even worse he’s doing stuff like this in this current climate too! Absolute scum of the earth.

Given how he's now acting, let's see if it resolves, I'm sure it'll work out fine now.

Hopefully it gets sorted, but I do have to say. Why people in this day n age still pay via bank transfer is beyond me.

Well its Wednesday and still no sign of a parking sensor, I think I can safely say Ive been ripped off...sad that car forums have come to this..

Obviously I'm not invested in this situation either way but due to the current situation country wide maybe it's a case of poor service or postal problems rather than the guy ripping you both off? There's a big difference between those scenarios...

Hi all,

Looks like I am the third victim of fraud (Inch1 if you read this, this is a criminal offence). I too am awaiting parts having paid £100 (fortunately from my credit card via paypal so there is some hope for me). I was told the parts were collected by a courier on the morning of the 7th.

I have spoken to the other two victims on here and we've each been given three different identities by this user.

My bank has advised to wait 15 days from purchase, so this is another 6 days so he has the benefit of doubt until then from me.

I am not angry or upset, but just pity the type of person that could do this during a national crisis. Shame on you.

Cheers.

Well he hasn't been on the forum since Saturday so I think it's safe to say he has done a runner.
Maybe we should put all his alias on this thread so folk can recognise a name in the future.

I got Tony Drysdale, I think it may be real name as I needed it to do the bank transfer.
He said he worked in Plymouth working as a ship prop shaft specialist but lived near Dundee.

Hope that helps someone.

Well then,

I guess I can add myself to this list aswell, been waiting for a part all week but nothing. I have however had email and WhatsApp contact this week but cant or wont supply me with courier details.

Was told it had been collected on the morning of the 11th but not sure that was truthful.

As the others say, not angry but more disappointed that forum members can do this and especially in the current climate. I've dealt with loads of members on the E30 forum while restoring it and never had a problem like this.

Stupidly I paid by bacs, but have spoken to my bank and they are hopefull they can still recover my money but wont know for at least 15 days.

So if anyone genuinely has a b7 dtm bumper I could be interested

He may not have posted anything for a few days but he was on the forum viewing threads yesterday. So if there’s a benign explanation, why not take the opportunity to post an update?

so I had a response from my bank today, unfortunately can't claim my money back as the account the #$@# had the money was paid in to has been wiped clean!!

On the banks advice its been reported to the national fraud and cyber crime Centre along with all photos emails and WhatsApp contact from him.

Nothing will probably come of it but worth pursuing. Live and learn!!!

Really sorry to hear this mate. Santander have been very helpful so far, I need to fill in a form, supply evidence and fingers crossed because I paid via my CC I should get my money back.

I note he is still a user on the forum - fair to say he should be removed now admin and IP banned if possible?

I once posted a wanted ad for something on this forum, someone from Aberdeen or the other side of the country responded by PM, he didn't want as much as the part normally cost but was desperate for a quick sale, sent me loads of messages within a short period of time demanding a deposit. Having experience of buying/selling through forums I sensed it was a definitely a scam ignored his messages and reported him to admin. On the plus side bought loads of modified parts from this site and majority of sellers and members have been great.

Yep unfortunately even at the nicest restaurants there's rats lurking in the shadows.
