Jassy's Blue Audi TTS Adventure

My camera phone ain't the best so lights look pink but to the eye the lights are crimson red they are far brighter and far more modern looking than the standard Mk3 TT leds the 4 oled plates give off this floating/3D effect and give a progressive lit up dance when they are energized very similar to the optional Q5 rear oleds but Audi introduced these on the TT back in 2017 Audi charge £2500 for these lights from the parts dept l paid £1300 for them plus £50 to Hmrc for a post Brexit tax

Liking your comments above on the car too & sounds like you’re definitely enjoying the car & gelling with it.
How is the suspension ?
You got the mag ride yeah ?
Just wondered how different the modes feel and if comfort is supple on the 20’s.

Not yet my appointment was for the 26th of April l booked it at the beginning of April so the car was a little late coming so booked in for the 26th of May not going to use it again til then got my mums car....the places l contacted that are Xpel approved all quoted similar prices they would'nt budge at all from their quotations even with cash in hand Xpel is very costly itself l was quoted £1500 for the front bumper, bonnet, wings, door mirrors,A pillars and was told that was a good price....once you get Xpel it needs a PPF ceramic coating so bare that in mind mate

Cheers @jassyo06

There is only one certified Xpel fitter here so I don‘t have options, I was quoted around £1300 for bumper, front wings, bonnet, headlights, wing mirror and side skirts including these rear quarters as the are particularly vulnerable areas on a Porsche.

The guy I went to really took the time to talk me through the details and showed me two cars he had completed and one in progress, brand new SF90 Ferrari a DB11 and an RS3. So I took from that he knows what he is doing.

Interestingly he told me different regarding the ceramic, he told me NOT to have the PPF sections of the car coated, rather just a hydrophobic coating is all that is required and he would apply as part of the application.

Hi mate mag ride is excellent in comfort mode its actually too comfortable as when driving over really poor road surfaces it can feel a little wollowy so different from S3 8v as the magride in any mode felt very similar ie firm its tyre roar that the car suffers from on my home it was horrendous magnified by my hearing affliction tinnitus that comes and goes....
But it is still an Audi, numb steering gearbox delayed change if in comfort;efficiency ie kick down doors are so frickin long l have had to be very careful because on one occasion parking in the drive l hit the plastic downpipe on the wall of the house as l opened the car door no damage though .pain in the backside to get in and out of....my phone and car are constantly at war with each other with the Bluetooth Spotify play back the car keeps on wanting to use my phones Sim card for a data connection but my phone wont allow this then l get bombarded by Vodafone texting me it looks like you've changed Sim cards pain in the **** Jordan is coming over today maybe he'll fix this glitch for me
Best bits over an 8v S3 FL
Engine exhaust sound
Interior/exterior design
Faster steering rack
Far more planted on the road
Faster car feels more torque is there

8V FL S3 Saloon best bits over the TT
pop up screen on dash sounds better on down shifts pops and bangs
My 8v pan roof

Nice to see your back number plates have been stuck on - really xxxx me off when the dealer drills to ****** great bit holes in the front and back of a brand new car
Thanks for the advice do you think the rear lights that I've replaced are worth selling its never entered into my head about selling them on but l wouldn't know where to begin on costing them but l will the rear wing

good decision on the rear oleds by the way, love em
Just a fetish i have, but, what miles were on the car when you picked it up id expect 2-4 miles tops but ive seen some pre-delivery cars with over 100 miles on, which got me thinking where have they been before a customer takes delivery

Anyways hope your happy with it i certainly would be buddy

My TTRS had 40m on the clock and the S5 had 26. when I asked the dealer about this he mentioned them being delivered to a central place and then being driven to individual showrooms in the locality. Most Audi main dealers seem to part of a larger group with different groups covering different parts of the country and sometimes they also drive them between different showrooms to meet an order.

just down the road from me is a large new JLR dealership just down the road from me and there 300+ new cars in a compound. Always seeing cars being driven out on Trade plates so they must be taking them somewhere

Def worth trying to sell them - there are always people / places looking for spares. £300 for the pair looks to be a bargain based on that one on eBay.

Worth asking your lad to find out how much a new one from Audi would be and if needed adjust your price accordingly keeping in mind ebay will take 12% if you sell though them. An advert on here or the TT Forum would be an option too

Think they would just get em from factory
Straight on transporter to docks out of docks to dealer on transporter
2-3 miles tops
My vans focus Rs and ds5 and c3 over the years had no more 4 miles on so don’t get why they need to drive them at all
If my rs3 if I ever have it comes with more than this I will want to know y and where it’s been driven

Well I'll need to get someone with more experience than myself to remove the rear spoiler as its glued on so tight...even with heat applied l just couldn't get any purchase on the fishing wire to cut through the adhesive foam which attaches the plinth to the top the wing it could be fully removed by taking the interior bootlid trim panels off but l aint going to attempt that especially on a bootlid, break a clip then all you get is rattles when the trim can't fit back properly these photos will show you what l am trying to do the bodyshop who painted it managed to separate both for painting but it wasn't fitted to car oh and forgive the mess the conservatory is used as my shed at the moment until a garden shed arrives

Cracking looking car Jassy, I loved my MK3 and that was only the TDi ultra. That on 19’s also suffered badly with road roar on less than perfect surfaces, whilst the cabin is a much nicer place to sit I don’t think it’s overly insulated.

The driving experience will override any little niggles like that.

For sure our RS3 was out and about care of Newcastle Audi and even before registration plates were fitted. Amazingly it was spotted and photographed by ASN member 'bagey' and posted here on ASN to prove "seen this yesterday on my way to work purple rs3" - see here: http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/rs3-discussion-thread.107448/page-18 post #713

BAGEY 1
Not purple of course as we now know...

But then @130 recorded miles when actually purchased from DK Engineering... https://www.dkeng.co.uk/Vehicle_Archive/219/audi_rs3.html
And 10-years later still yet to break into the 15k miles, tsk :sadlike:

Cars booked in for Tuesday morning for the rear wing to get fitted hopefully I'll get the black emblems and Badges fitted this weekend going to remove the stuck on rear plate and fit the Audi sport plate holder as l think the rear plate looks a little lost on the TT 's big rear... Have no Audi connect hooked up so a phone call to Audi CS is called for

In a ideal world if l could have purchased the exact same model as l did but with the matte aluminum trim l might have got one first TTS l saw had it looked special ...it had a spec that wasn't even configurable as it was a Launch model that all the youtubers were given almost 2 years no fixed wing though, matte aluminum trim would have been a nice change .....Anyway l changed the 2 TTS badges front and back front badge was easy just lifted the bonnet and un clipped a cover and pushed the badge off from the back.
The rest of the stuck on emblems and Badges where a nightmare to remove not the badges/emblems themselves but the sponge adhesive behind them took me a few hours
The fixed rear black spoiler is a dust magnet hate black paint besides l don't like the design of it either can't wait to get the other wing fitted on Tuesday the rear plate holder will get done next week does anyone know if the cars come with pre configured holes for plate mounts or does it require a drill ???

Cheers to be honest l aint a huge fan of Turbo Blue but no other optional paint colour was even a consideration its nothing like Voodoo blue TB is a few shades lighter my OCD beats me up why the TTS badge and the Audi Emblem aint at the same level....lol maybe i should have moved the TTS badge up a bit so both were in line....??? but it comes from the factory like this....its getting a full machine polish ASAP as the paint is full of dealer swirls/fine scratches it'll also get ceramic coated in some areas
Drove it like l stole it on Friday mostly out of frustration with other drivers on the motorway driving poorly...... Woman in a Fiat 500 suv outside lane holding up many many cars around her my god it's ****** fast that fast my seat belt pre tensioner locked me in couldnt move it's faster than my S3 was that's for sure

Badges look spot on - nice work :thumbs up: Know what you mean about removing the adhesive - took me ages on the S5 too:sob:

Unless it’s been changed recently you’ll need to drill the panel to fit the Audi Sport number plate holder - however the panel is plastic so dead easy to do. Personally though I hate holes drilled into to the car - could you fit the Audi Sport holder using double sided number plate tape?

Been thinking about this... fitting the plate holder without drilling the car l purchased a pack of double sided 3M adhesive pads that would do this job no problem l think? going to to buy a new plates as well, l have washed and finished off 3 cars today started at 8 am and finished at 6pm am ****** must have removed around 12 bird shits from the 3 cars during the afternoon very very frustrating lol
