Stuart recently purchased a Candy White Seat Leon FR 59 plate which is a typical example of a vehicle that has been washed using either automatic car washes or the cheap roadside services (yeah you know the ones I mean!). As he uses his car as a daily ride and time was limited Stuart was looking to enhance the look of the paintwork but aware that within the space of a day it would be quite difficult to achieve 90 to 95% correction of the paintwork.
Another slight difference to what we usually do is that Stuart wanted to help with the Enhancement and learn how to machine polish. Therefore prior to me working on the car he did the following:
Pre-wash using Juicy Snow foam; Rinsed; Washed using the 2 bucket wash method, a Dodo Juice Tribble Mitt lambswool wash mitt and Chemical Guys Maxi Suds Shampoo; Rinsed; Decontamined using Car Pro Trix which is a combination of iron fall out and tar removal and then clayed using yellow fine poly clay and Valet Pro Citrus Bling as lube.
Rinsed and washed again using the above method and then finally dried using Supernatural Microfibre Drying Towel.
The car was taken inside our new detailing bay and paintwork evaluated and depths taken. Now generally white is quite a hard colour to see imperfections on however due to the state of this is was quite easy, again just a couple of photos as virtually the whole car was the same.
Nice of example of marring from the clay due to poor use of clay lube and rushing....ok I'll let him off as it was he was a "virgin clayer"....
Next stage after the evaluation was to tape up all the edges using Scotch High Performance Masking Tape. This is to protect the panel edges as the paint depth is thinner in these area and trims from being marked by polish. This picture is quite a good example of how paintwork can look shiny but up close have a vast amount of imperfections...so hence the importance of the lights we use.
As per usual a few test sections were done and boy was this paint rock hard as you expect from the VAG cars, ie. the likes of Seat, VW, BMW and Audi generally always have hard paint therefore you need to have a slightly more aggressive combination of polish and pads....The weapon of choice was my Festool Rotary and we settled on using Scholl S17+ polish and a Scholl white/black spider polishing pad

Ok so its not perfect, but we are not looking to correct all imperfections due to the time limitations we have available. Only the deeper scratches remain
Bonnet corrected and you can see the difference in that the reflection rather than just shiny has colour as the majority of imperfections have gone. Clarity has been restored - Stuart went over with a Kestrel DAS6 Polisher using a Black Hex Logic Finishing Pad and 3M Ultrafina finishing polish
So starting to move around the car...this just shows the difference from bonnet to side wing

Nearly there - this was around 1 in the morning
All the correction has been completed, tape removed and wiped down to remove any remaining oils and fillers. We decided to call it a night and come back in early Sunday morning to apply the final products.
A coat of Chemical Guys Wet Mirror Finish Gloss Magnifier using a Juicy foam applicator and finally a coat of Chemical Guys Lava Paste Wax Luminous Glow Infusion was applied.
Wheels and trims dressed using Valet Pro Dionysus Trim Glitz and windows cleaned using Chemical Guys Glassworkz Glass Clean
Mmmmm who says you can't get white looking dripping wet
We took the car outside to take a complete look
