"K1: Short to +12"

When connecting VCDS for first time to my new mk1 its showing this...
K1: Short to +12
K2: OK
CAN: Not ready
My VCDS works fine in my mk5 Golf, so its not the cable.
Any pointers appreciated

I unravelled the k-lines all crushed together at a dead end branch off the OBD feed cable. I found only one with voltage... as shown here...

If it has an aftermarket radio wired in check there. There is a K line to the radio and sometimes the K line gets connected to 12V.
