Key coding with a 2011 (B7) VW Passat

Friend of mine just bought a 61 plate VW Passat but it only came with one key (bladeless type, well has a hidden blade for emergency use) and he would like a spare.

Knowing that I was able to code a new key for my own car sometime ago (I have VCDS / Vag Tacho etc) he asked me if I could code a new one to his car if he bought a 'blank' on eBay.

Had a quick look but nothing obvious came up, was wondering if anyone had any experience of key coding with these cars / keys?

I know its an old post but just for information purposes its not as easy as the old ones as these have component security which is only accessible with certain tools which are very expensive for one off use
