I wouldn't write off non dealerships as some dealers will not take in cars and sell them on their forecourt but move onto local garages for various reasons - Age, my Land/range rover centre only has 1 to 2 years max on the forecourt and 2 is at a push with strict guidelines low mileage with high spec only anything else goes to a nearby dealer. Performance some dealerships struggle to sell performance cars, if it only has 6months warranty left most punters want longer. My local VW dealer swaps its new performance car quota for standard models as it struggles to sell performance models - they sent me to another garage for my edition30. Do your homework and all should be well.
