About a month ago my car suddenly lost its coolant in the expansion tank but with no obvious leak so I just topped it up. For the next few weeks the heater was ok but no where near as hot as normal. Then it lost coolant again and the only sign was around the expansion tank. This time I topped it up again and then the next day the heater went stone cold. Then the next trip the coolant light came on again so I put some in but the heater worked perfectly. Then it was leaking all round the expansion tank as if it was from the cap and was dripping underneath. I left it for the day then topped it up and drove home and the level actually rose but the heater worked. The coolant did look a little brown on the surface but otherwise pink. Oil has no water on or milikness.
The coolant loss only seems to happen on 1 hour+ journeys and is normally when driving at a constant speed
It is the 2.0tdi engine
Any suggestions??
