low on oil but can i mix?

just checked my dip stick and its not on the scale! i think im running 5w/30 but all i have in the shed is 10w/40, can i top it up with that or is it not a good idea?

Personally I wouldn't, but depends on how much is missing.

I would just stick to the same visocity oil

Yes you can, no real prroblem and certainly much preferable to running with the oil that low.

i took at least a liter! and still not in the stick! im surprised it didnt come up on the dash, im 99% its coming from the sump nut so im going to get a new one and re do the oil, cheers guys
