lowering suspension question

so i have to wait about a week or so for everything to settle before getting spacers on and alignment, in the mean time here she is all lowered on H&R 35/35 coming from 1BE springs. I was advised either 15 or 20mm but will depend after installing them to see if it rubs, I definitely know rear can do 20mm easy

Believe it or not I have literally just had the car washed...wasteman car wash, Any good polishers around please get in contact with a quote. shine and smooth this baby out.

Thank you kind sir, next upgrade is 380mms at the front by that time the warranty would have expired and off to Bobby Singh for him to do his magic.

Only the 380? Why don't you really annoy yourself and get the 400mm conversion and then struggle like F to find any decent discs under £600! :whistle2:

Can't recommend Bobby enough!

Looks perfect,

Update

I ordered my 20mm spacers yesterday, they turned up today, installed the front ones as a test as i know the backs will take 20mm easily and this was the outcome.

Looks quite nice and perfect space wise, what do you guys think. i have only installed the front 2 and will take it for a ride shortly to see if there is any rubbing, if there isn't then i can just install the rear and all is well, if there is rubbing i can transfer them to the back and send the 2 untouched ones back and replace them with 15mm. But the way its looking i think it will be spot on as it is.

Nice, I remember seeing an old post where the guy was running 20mm spacers on the back and 17.5mm in the front with no rubbing. I know H+R do 18mm spacers too.

What make of spacers did you go for?

How’s the ride on the new springs?

Very nice fit mate, looks spot on height wise and spacer wise. Great mod

As nice as it looked and was spot on it was short lived as they were rubbing, i had a look and there is a screw literally on the edge of the front fender edge which screws into the inside cover, i removed it and it made a difference but only if slow on bumps, i believe my 275/35 tyres didn't help either as had they been 270 or 265 /30 it would be no issue. I got in contact with the people who sent me the spacers and they will replace 2 x 20mm ones with 15mm so I have 20 in the rear and will try 15 in the front. and see how that fairs.

The people i got them from are https://precision-auto.co.uk/product-category/all-wheel-spacers/?_make=AUDI&_model=A7&_year=2015

i ordered mid day and they turned up next day literally at 10:30am from near Glasgow. super fast delivery.

Ride I would say, not sure feels a bit rattely if i might say but ive still to test with spacers and let things settle a little.

thank you i will post pics with 20 in the back and 15mm in the front tomorrow, fingers crossed the 15s work..

Update

received my 15mm spacers this morning, went to install them and thought I will investigate why there is a rattle going on check all the top and inside nuts bolts just in case anything is loose.

all seemed fine at the top but upon investigation inside the wheel arch there is oil all over the struts and over some parts of the hub and wish bones???

not 1 side but both.

what could of caused that? could it be that shocks are sitting lower because of shorter springs and its put too much pressure on shocks and they leaked or exploded?

kinda baffled, I could understand one side but both leaking. Ordered new shocks. just annoyed that i have to re do the whole process again.

Any ideas what could of caused this?

update time

soooo, i was looking for some front suspensions and I came across a guy selling coil overs for an audi a6 c7 a7 near enough the same price so i decided to go for these. switch all 4 out and sell the H&R springs as they have only been in vehicle for about 3 or 4 days. Now the question is when starting out with coil overs do you need to bottom them out completely and then work your way up? like this
IMG 20220325 153330

as i did this and the result was this
IMG 20220325 WA0001

or do i need to set the bottom base to match my original shocks like this and then work my way down to get a correct lowering?
IMG 20220325 WA0004

i noticed the coil overs shocks are maybe an inch and a half shorter when fully extended compared to the originals and the spring is shorter about the same height.

Any advice?

Update

so as I was able to pick up a coil over set up quite cheap, around the same price as 2 front new shock absorbers, I installed it, for experimental purposes and to play with, front I had plenty of room to play, while the rear were maxed out but I am sure if I installed a 10mm ring in between the part that the rear bottom coil over sits in the actual frame, it would be perfect. i decided to remove the coil overs from the back and re install the H&R springs and leave the coil overs in the front until I sourced some new shocks. after a week or so I ordered new new gas shocks and re installed the H&R springs. so for now this is where i am with 20mm spacers in the back and 15mm spacers in the front, later on down the line around august when I have had the remaps of the gearbox and engine done as well as new exhaust, decat and dpf adjusted, i will most likely get air lift kit installed with 21s.

with new shocks in the front it doesn't sit as low as it did originally with the very same H&R springs. very happy with this. Rides superb. the back rubs ever so slightly if I go over a bump a little too fast but that's because i have 275's all round, if it was 265 it would be perfect. I might get 3mm shaved off the rear spacers at work to bring them down to 17mm

What brand of Coilovers were they? So you have a set of Coilovers sitting round spare now?! Also, did it sit a lot lower On the Coilovers

Hi Eric

I believe they were jom or something actually quite good for the price. I have a spare set of these coil overs as well as 1be springs that sit your car 20mm lower than SE if i am correct?

Coil overs sat perfect no issues, I just didn't have the time any more to keep adjusting to get equal height on all 4 wheels as the time I had off got consumed and being back to work now, I wanted the car in full working order, specially 100 miles round trip to work, so it was easy for me to just put the H&R's on as you can see its exactly where I want it.

I will put pics up of both sets and if you or anyone wants them, more than happy to take offer.

Original intention was to put coil overs on adjust best I can and then take them to a specialist and get them to do the final adjustment for all 4 on a flat surface, but as mentioned above no more time to faff around for a good 3 or 4 months so took this route instead.

Hi

as im not able to post in the classified, here it will have to do, these are the coil overs i think they are by jom, and as you can see from above they fitted fine i just didn't have the time to keep adjusting to get the perfect all round balance, hence i threw my H&Rs back on, Was back to work after 3 weeks so needed car in working order. Play time up.

£100 for the whole kit collection sound good?
