After being to my local Bmw dealer, I have left there very tempted by a new M5. Bmw are doing some fantastic deals on them right now as many people are wary on buying due to the uncertainty within the motor industry right now. A facelift is due mid next year, but what a motor. Puts the RS to bed as far as I’m concerned and I never thought I would say that.

There's never been a bad M5 mate...

I don't know if you watch the Grand Tour but in season 3 they test one and it's a mega car. The lap time it produced is off the chart for what it is...

Colleague has just picked up an M5 Competition and it is lovely. I test drove the standard M5 but apparently the Comp is the one to have.

Very different car to the RS3 and I still think it doesn’t sound that good. But I doubt you’d be disappointed by it. For the money though, you could get into a 911 GTS!

Saw one in the flesh today. Not been this gobsmacked since I first saw my RS3...

Pure filth mate. How do you find it?
Absolute missile! If you floor it you're going very fast very quickly but tbf it has so much torque that you only need a gentle prod to see off most traffic. Drives great too and safe ish given the 4WD. Quality wise it is way above the RS3 but to be expected I guess as it perhaps A6 competition not the 3.

I do still miss the RS3 tbf as it is a hard car to leave behind.

If I was UK based I would jump at a M5C.
I have seen UK supplied 2018, 2k miles, approx £60k.
In France they retail around 140k euro and average milers haven't really depreciated.......such a shame.

£18k discount on Carwow for a factory order M5 Comp... £20k if you push them. Crazy discount.

I suppose it shows you how over priced all these rs m sport amg cars are, 50-60k for a rs3 is taking the biscuit, 90k for a nice saloon is a joke.

Colleague got his loaded brand new M5 comp for sub £80k. Dealers desperate to sell cars right now.

Not Audi though it seems, few % max when I enquired about a new RS3 a few months back!

You want epic depreciation, look at an i8. 2018 LCI models are half the new list price.

I’m guessing that’s because of the tax breaks you get by buying one.

I’d definitely be tempted by one of these if they weren’t au$300k..... oh well just have to put up with the rs3 for the time being.

Yeh because they’re not very pretty and not that quick considering the money. Think an rs3 is about as fast if not quicker to 100mph

Well Guys, I’ve gone and done it. I’m sad to see my rs go, had a fantastic 3 and a half years with her, but my head has really been turned by the M5. Test drove today, just blown away.
So, deposit down and car expected for September 1st.

Congrats! I don’t think you’ll regret it... well, maybe you might miss the sound.

What’s happening to your RS3?

Problem is, it’s to the horrific depreciation and horrific running costs after warranty runs out that would put me off.

Saw an ad on auto trader. 5k miles m5 comp, 2016 model. £93 new with options, plus aftermarket mods, but selling for £42k

2018 models selling at dealers for £60k

Horrific depreciation

Part ex. Tried some independent dealers who specialise a bit, in the end bmw dealer offered me a good price.

I’ve got 27k discount. That’s the initial depreciation taken care of already. Add that to 600hp and 4wd, last thing I’m thinking f is running costs.

Used M5 comp in Sweden is 120k + 1400 every year for the first 3 years in tax + 300ish every month for insurance. :sob:

Congrats on the purchase I’m sure you will love your new steed. Sept 1st isn’t that far away however it’ll still feel like a long few weeks no doubt!

I stand corrected! That sounds great. The one I drove didn’t sound like that, although it was a standard car and not a competition. Also, that’s a US car...do ours have any silly extra filters?!

@D0C afaik it's just the sports exhaust which is standard on the Comp.

Not sure if we have the dreaded GPF in the UK vs USA but yeah perhaps the UK sound is a bit less.

US cars definitely don’t have GPF
