The residents of Manchester have dealt a death blow to congestion charges even though the government were bribing them with a £1.5 billion sweetener saying they were going to improve public transport.

YEAH right, brown sure fooled the public of Manchester NOT.

The vote was 4-1 against the congestion charge a resounding defeat for the robbing goverment.

Its good that the people who could vote saw through the scam and voted it out. Amazing that only 1.9 million people where eligible to vote, yet it would have effected a lot more than the 1.9 million that where eligible to vote.

Its sad how much money has been wasted on this so far, money that would have been better spent on maintaining the roads providing better public transport etc, - oh hang on we have already paid for all that - via road tax and ever increasing taxes and its just been wasted by local councils & goverment !

It may be a blow but tbh it was predicted and doesnt mean it wont happen.

just goes to show how out of touch local councils are with the man and women in the street. hello would you like to give us 5 pound a day just so you can go to work to earn money so we can take even more tax and national insurance. and to think at one time we was not going to have a vote they was just going to impose there wishes on us all the local councilors who supported this farce should resign on mass 20 million quid to find out something we already knew pathetic
