This pair were really lucky, Not often you could take out an electricity pole in an accident with the car catching fire and walk away with minor injuries. The wonders of carbon fibre F1 technology.
I wonder how fast it was going though as that is a very straight road they were coming down. Not a corner in sight.

Maybe there is a slight depression or hump in the road and the car went heavy/light, the driver panicked, lost the wheel and that's that...

I remember a road near me which I have done loads of times in cars. I was test riding a BMW S1000RR superbike, flooring it down this road - we are talking fast - and the bike took off with air TT style. Never even knew a little rise was there. You only notice things like this at warp speed.
