Hi. Research on this stuff can be fun. To a point.
I recently (3 months ago) bought a 2016 A3 Sportback etron. Silly me, I thought since it said "MMI Nav +" that would of course include a backup camera. Wrong. So, how hard can it be? Can't be too much, cause they're all over Amazon and eBay.
Wrong again. Audi has managed to take something somewhat complicated and managed to make it even more complex, to the point if you take your car to the Audi dealership (even the good ones), if you ask them why and what the options were/are, they look at you like you're speaking in tongues (or Greek even).
I'm including some links in case some are curious like me, and can't stand not knowing what we've got.
There are a whole bunch of aftermarket kits, but you better find the right one, or it's "oops, sorry about your luck".
If anyone finds this useful, that's good. if not, at least I gave it a shot.
The REAL reason I'm posting this is because I just(!) found out that Apple CarPlay now allows Waze and other Nav apps (other than Apple Maps) are supported Apps. I really don't feel like paying XM a monthly fee just for traffic and satellite radio. One year's subscription would buy me a new toy. At the least.
Comments always welcome, as I'm still trying to find something that works. Properly.
btw, I'm still confused as to the relationship (if any) and meaning between MMI MIB and Gen 3 and 3+. Could someone enlighten me please? Some of the kits mention 3G+ and MIB1 in the same sort of application for aftermarket.
