Just come across this MTM engine mods for the 2.00 TFSI, with stage 3 now upto 272 BHP.

it is possible, the old 1.8T used to gain abound 65 with just a rechip on the DBW cars, 223bhp was not uncommom up from the standard 156 (although VW quoted 150) Although the 1,8T had a better breathing head by all accounts.

So with "Milltek Sport stainless steel exhaust system" you get 250bhp, but "with additional Milltek downpipe & cat" you get 22bhp more?

Sounds /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif.

The restriction on the 1.8T was always the exhaust manifold although there were several different types of head. The manifold on the 2.0T is an internally ceramic coated work of art. I wouldn't doubt MTM's figures for one second seeing as the guy running it used to be one of Audi's ECU specialists...

i;m not doubtin the figures just that replying to steves comment on it staying with an S4

70bhp would not put it faster than a chipped S3 me thinks....

Superchips car which was tested in Audi driver mag against one polled pretty similar times and that was only pushing 241hp. I haven't got the document to hand though... Dont forget the 2.0T has a way better spread of power than the 1.8T. I'm not saying it has more, just what its got is more available.

Your just teasing me, STOP IT.

Get some videos made.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ok.gif

How does it compare to your old 225 R, or even as S3/TT.

I would imagins it isn't far off being a bigger engine and newer etc. Making the most of whats available and it felt more free and smooth compared to me mums TT 225.

THe thing the gets me ( Talking paper figures here which I know often don't matter or are even false ), but hoe come a DSG car can be uicker then a Quatty? Im sure 200 BHP is hard to put down compared to a quattro.

Yes it is a diffeent story and kettle of fish in the wet.

Dave

The 250 BHP option is supposed to deliver identical 0 - 60 times as the S4. Past the 60/80 mark the S4 should pull comfortably away though.

Let me see if I can dig up the link where the performance figures were posted.

That's what I was thinking - the 2.0 FSI is soo much more torqier than the 1.8t (225bhp) engine. I think the extra bhp may not sound amazing but I would have thought the effect on the engine would be awesome - but I'm new to all this chipping and modding (for now..) so am interested to hear more expert or experienced opinions.

My R was a 210 not a 225 and running standard the performance was near as damn it identical to the A3. Once remapped the Leon was a beast though. Mine RR'd 280hp several times...

And make the car illegal. Anyway, 22hp from removing that cat is something I don't believe, they're not done by Russians, and haven't resulted in great increases in new cars.

Dont know about the A3, but there are plenty of bikes that will give massive power gains from exhaust mods alone. My ZX9R puts out around 130bhp at the rear wheel as standard, but gives 144 with a free flowing system.

My very old 1200 suzuki put out 99bhp as standard, and gave 115 with just the end can changed. Obviously this varies between models, but on that basis you could easily get another 22bhp from the audi with just exhaust changes. Whether you do or not will depend on the OE design. And obviously, as Yak says, this would be breaking the law, which is a definite no-no. Oh no.

Chris, this is "3dr A3 3.2" (Ben) from the fourtitude forum...

Guys, this is Chris, who posts on the audi forum attached to the www.vwvortex.com site.

The A3 is only available as a Sportback 2.0t in the US, but this guy will be playing around quite a bit with is motor (the word "nitrous" has been pronounced /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif). It will be nice having information pass back and forth over the pond (even if it's only for the 2.0t !).

Anyways, from seeing cutaway drawings of the downpipe and cat, I agree with Chris that removing said cat will provide lots of gains, as long as the ecu can be kept happy.

Hey Ben.. I think you were the one who recommended me to come over here and check it out...

Waiting on the flanges from the machine shop so I can build my first couple downpipes for testing.. Hopefully I can have some results to post up in the next week or so to back up the claims being debated.

I figured you guys have had this engine so you know more and well we are just insane over here so hopefully we can all work together and figure stuff out for this engine /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh and I mounted the bottle yesterday hopefully I'll get the rest installed this week.

Chipping this engine to 250+ through 4 wheels is a nice setup 270 is even better. What worries me is MTM do the remap for the mrk v that could be a bit much through the front wheels.

I"ve got just shy of 270hp to the front wheels and about 300ft/lbs to the front wheels on my jetta. I just started swapping the turbo out for something bigger and it should hit close to 300hp at the wheels with similar torque still. Car is very easy to drive, actually easier then say a stock 1.8T with a chip because the torque while much great is delayed slightly... gives you more time to react.

Driving a high hp front wheel drive car is not difficult just takes common sense.

Agree with Ben on the clutch.. same engine power but only to two wheels is alot less load on the clutch VS 4.
