26k would buy me a nice RS2 for daily duty and an E30 M3 for play.

I guess you would have to be a proper Ford enthusiast to appreciate it/fork out that sort of money, not to be off topic but for 26k Id have a nicely specced mk5 Golf GTI TDI (£15k) and an imported DC3 Civic Type R (£8k+2k on mods).....

Its great to see cars like this, but I couldn't keep it in an enviromental chamber. It needs to be driven day in day out, and truly enjoyed for what it is.

A lot more fun can be had for £10k, and once that car is worn out you get another one at £10k and still have plenty of change to run it.

Was having a similar conversation with my mate yesterday at Rally Day. There are people who take these Mk1s to shows on the back of a truck, let people gawp at it all day and then take it home again. That just doesn't work for me. Cars are meant to be driven and used.

Neither has the owner! my money's on Staz - cars are built to be driven. Especially the Escort cozzy's gotta love 'em.

They had instant response that banged your neck back. You only get that from carbs with accelerator pumps but everything else was 1970s including reliability
Cars then weighed nothing, I did a comparisom the other day between a 16v golf and my 3.2 and i thinkl the 1990 golf had a better power weight ratio.
Some time i will work out how an S3 compares to the early hot hatches. i know my 3.2 has nothing like the kick of my GTXLR Mk 1 Capri...lol
