Picked this up at the end of last month from Bristol as a replacement for my (2nd car) Focus ST which turned out to be somewhat of a dog

3.0 TFSI Supercharged S-line with 65k - a slightly detuned S4 B8 engine but with all the same tuning potential. Essentially a second car so something fast, uneconomical and somewhat different was the criteria.

Aventurine Blue, heated electric full leather seats, high beam assist, MMI 3G High, DVD player, adaptive bi-xenon headlights to name but a few options ticked when it was new.

Plans are a Stage 1+ map which will see 440bhp with a smaller supercharger pulley, gearbox service/flush, paint correction/coating and somewhere down the line, a walnut blast inlet clean. Once the V5 comes back I will put my own plate on.

Retrofits I would like are folding mirrors (strange they were missed!) which will come eventually.

Definitely not something that’s daily-able, it drinks super unleaded like it’s going out of fashion and averages 20-25mpg giving it some pedal - not that I can complain as it’s smiles all round when you do so!

Excuse the dirty carpet, mats are en-route.

I’ve done 1500 miles in this as my daily V70 was having some issues and it was being used my someone else during this time too

During that time I’ve carried out some general housekeeping tasks just to get it to where I like it :grinning:

first up was a map and firmware update on the MMI, it was running its factory firmware since 2009 so was well over due. 4 hours later on a battery charger everything up to 2021 spec (I need to remove the rest of the coating on the screen and apply a screen protector!)

Next up were floor mats, my preferred mat has and always will be rubber and manufacturer made, unfortunately rubber mats for this model were discontinued in January 2021 and getting a set of old-stock was impossible. Had to settle for the Premium carpet mats with embossed A6 logo and white outer piping

Decided to change some of the badges, genuine of course! Rear quattro badge was changed to the newer ‘black’ variant, need to get one for the front grill too.

Genuine ‘Supercharged’ badges for the wings to replace the S-line badges, this seems to be an American thing so they came at a price! These will be fitted the next time the car is washed

I had a gearbox service carried out by dubTECH Ballymoney, this was a total flush of all fluid in the box, torque converter and lines. Audi say it’s ‘sealed for life’ but ZF say otherwise. The colour of the old fluid says it all.

Now the reason everyone’s most likely interested in, power.

I gave in to peer pressure and had a Stage 1 tune applied by again, dubTECH in Ballymoney.

Avon Tuning file applied taking an already sharp car to 400bhp and propelling nearly 2tonne from 0-60 in the mid 4seconds.

needless to say it has transformed the car and I am extremely happy with the outcome. I don’t think I need the extra 30-40bhp the smaller supercharger pulley would give but watch this space .. anything could happen! :grinning:

Future plans are window tints and changing the chrome to black. There is a few minor things to fix which is just me being fussy but all good otherwise!

My V5 eventually arrived today so I got my plate transferred this morning!

Feels like I should now have shares in BP Ultimate but it’s definitely smiles per gallon with this one, even moreso now with 400bhp :)

Still loving this car, should’ve bought one ages ago.

Front discs and pads replaced today (347mm!) along with a calliper refresh, TRW was the choice of brand

Window tints added, 20% rear and 75% front - may not be everybody’s thing but I like it :)

Front quattro badge changed to the new A4 8W version to match the one on the rear completed previously.

10mm spacers fitted front and rear, Q7 4L chrome tipped seat adjustment switches fitted and genuine Supercharged badges fitted to the wings in place of the S-line badges

car needs washed :)

Great detailing, well done.
One question: how did you get rid of scratches on the MMI screen?
I'm scared to do anything to it in case I mess it up even more.

Its just the coating on the screen that comes off, I just rubbed it with a microfiber cloth though I need to finish it off the next time i'm cleaning the interior.

So no cleaning products needed, just a microfiber cloth and should come clear.
Then I apply a screen protector, correct?

Hydraulic engine mounts replaced today which thankfully has cured the slight clunk putting the car into gear :)

Feel like I’m replying to myself but anyway;

DAB+ module added today to replace the normal DAB unit from 2009.

CP removed and jobs a good ‘un :) 4G0035061D for anyone interested.

Also changed out the panel on the back of the front seats for the ones with nets.

I tried the microfiber cloth, but after 15 minutes of rubbing nothing happened.
Scratches are still there and coating doesn't come off.
Any tricks I'm missing here?

Not much has changed for the big bus, had it in Scotland last week ripping around the Highlands, went really well and glad I took it over!

Some updates to note;

Rear number plate light strip replaced due to internal corrosion, fitted genuine Audi LED plate lights at the same time

Enjoyed reading this mate, I’ve just put a deposit down on an Avant 3.0TFSI to replace my B7 Avant 3.2 V6.

First thing I have looked at is the pulley and map, does the gearbox need any updates for the added power?

Any exhaust plans?

To be honest, 400bhp from the stage 1 map is enough, it’s very usable and still shocks alot of people.

the gearbox software was out of date so it was updated via Odis, not tuned, though it behaves fine with the engine ecu map.

do the stage 1 and spend the money on replacing the thermostat and water pump as they are weak on these engines, also have your gearbox flushed and do the rear diff too.

Be prepared for 20-23mpg though and only run it on super unleaded!

next thing I’ll be getting done is the walnut blast for the inlet. No exhaust plans just yet as it’s a great sleeper ;)

Cheers for that, I currently get 18mpg in the A4 so this will be better

I have the same car picked it up around the same time as you, haven't put any miles on it due to covid. Have you had any issues since mapping it? I need to get the gearbox service done, its at 108k now, but was quoted 735 with genuine Audi filters and fluid. How much did you get charged if you don't mind me asking?

Much prefer rubber mats myself though, both were sold with the car.
