My Ibis S3.

Hi all back in a s3 again after a short change of cars..

Thought i would start a little write up to keep track of the mods.

I'll start with some pics of the last s3, just because i kinda miss the sprint blue

I changed that for this

It was a great car, pretty quick and alot of fun to drive... but it wasn't a audi.
So after only 4 weeks of RS ownership i decided i was going back to a s3...

After alot of humming and heying i finaly decided on ibis..

It was pretty basic spec and the last s3 was fully loaded so 1st mod was rnse mk2

Then some black rear badges..

rear tints.. as last one had factory tints, i really missed em.

Then some pro race 1.2's gloss black 18x8 wrapped in bridgestone potenza ss01.

Then it was MY11 rears

By the time i done that my grill had finally arrived from germany. i also removed the fog rings to wrap em gloss black (still to be done)

I then had some weitec hicon gt coilovers fitted.. which are all the way down on the front and about 3 threads from the botton on the rears.. I'm hoping they will settle down a bit as there still no where near as low as i would like em.

I think thats it so far.. other than loads of cleaning / tar removing... white is a nightmare!

I bought the coilovers from ebay at a bargain price..
The next mods are Twintake and madified engine cover, then some black mirror caps.
hopfully get some buckets after xmas

The wingmirrors are begging to go black in my opinion, give it more of a contrast between the white and black, just a quick off topic q, what did u think of the focus RS, why did u go vack to an s3, im thinking of gettn either a Sportback S3 S tronic or Focus RS, not decided just yet

really nice motor that mate. In your last couple of pics have you just pulled off the silver surround on the fogs or is that them wrapped in the pics?

only because I'm thinking of just pulling off the silver bit instead of buying whole new fog grills but scared what it will look like

I'm also interested in how the RS drove. Was it more of a raw experience, with brutal power and great roadholding? Making the S3 feel anaesthetised by comparison?

All the above pics are with the fog rings removed, it actually looks ok from a distance, but think i will still refit them in gloss black.

The RS was a totally different beast to the S3 the power was more savage and with fwd only it had loads of torque steer, it was excellent on the corners and a real drivers car, needed alot more imput than the s3 does, which basically drives its self in comparison. the RS is not any quicker than a standard S3, in fact its slower, but it feels alot quicker, mainly due to the torque steer.
The exhaust note is just somthing else, sounds awesome, even with the standard system.
My main reason for going back to a s3 was the fact my other half drives the car more than i do, and mostly short runs. averaging 14-17mpg in the RS. That along with the fact theres not much visual mods you can do to em, unless u want to spend £££ on carbon bits.
Not that expensive to get to 440bhp out of them tho which would of been my plan had i kept it.
Had a run in WRtunings one thats 440bhp and it was a absoloute weapon.
Am i glad i went back to a S3?

Surprise to hear you say it still torque steers. I thought the Quaife diff was supposed to cure all that!

(not doubting your word, it's just very telling how most of the motoring press reviews all claim that the Quaife and RevoKnuckle all but eliminate torque steers from the car...... I think it's a case of them just seeing what they want to see!!)

I live about 20 mins out of Edinburgh on the Borders side on the A701..........10 mins from Biggar.

excuse the creased heat wrap. that stuff is a nightmare to work with.

That black rotors look spot on. the whole car does actually! Rs3 grill might be on the list of to-do mods!

i ordered the heat wrap from partbox, i bought a 35ft roll but i did have some spare.
