Hi all. I ordered an S3 today and have been reading this board for a while. I look forward to being a fully qualified forum member!

Here's the spec for those interested:

Black Edition, S Tronic, Ara Blue, Saloon
Advanced Key
Audi Parking System Plus
Virtual Cockpit
Red Brake Calipers
Folding/auto-dimming mirrors
Extended interior upholstery
Super sports seats
Hill hold assist
Matt aluminium inlays, light design
Matrix LED
Sunroof
Split folding back seats
Tech pack advanced
19" 5-V spoke wheels

It's Audi code ABKLQ611 if you'd like to take a look.

Don't have a build date yet, will get that in the next day or so. Very excited of course and already wishing away the next few months! Will undoubtably have a bunch of questions so I'll be back with those soon...

Mega spec rear camera is a must...but on the downside.....that's a spec that's in for some serious neg equity....throughout....best be a keeper for most of the pcp term

Very similar to what l was going for but with the design package, but no advance key or park assist....so a S3 Saloon Black Edition wont be on my driveway come March.....reason why a S3 black edition S-Tronic Saloon....is virtually what a RS3 started at 18 months ago....and its GMFV....over the 4 term is actually less than my car l have just now....A £50k RS3 Saloon is better for me full stop rather than a £45k S3.....

Nah mate we will know on here before they...do....next year will fly in....lol its going to be a good year for Audi, and also from what l have been told Audi are hemming in all the margins given to all dealers in the UK...IE DISCOUNTS VIA CAR BUYING SITES...Audi are trying to go back to how they used to be....more exclusive....

Another way of saying more dosh required. Dealers won't like that as volume brings in the commission.

If that's the Audi line then fair enough but "more exclusive" means not flooding the market with a model to cover every niche going (including things like the Q2) and having 10 squillion variants for every model like they currently do. What it means is screwing the customers and keeping the margins up. All that'll happen is they get fewer sales but at higher margins and it remains to be seen whether the bottom line is better off as a result.
We recently bought two new Audi's but there's a good chance my wife would've went elsewhere had the deal not been as good as it was.

You're the second person here to mention the rear view camera. I'm still able to revise my spec and would like to know why! Is it for the resale value, because it's useful, because it's cool, some other reason, or is there some sarcasm I (as a newbie to the forum) am missing?

For the money the RVC is well worth it

I opted not to get the RVC as I'm have parking system plus and didn't see the value in it. I can just look over my shoulder and I'd rather be more aware of my surroundings. Just my two cents tho.

Phasing in this more exclusive theme is only to increase residuals, large discounts equates to poor residuals mate as we all know especially on high end S cars etc, RS cars RS3/4/5/TTRS,hold there value extremely well only because of the small discounts given out.its Audi themselves not the dealers that are trying to do this, cutting margins on a lot of models means less money for the franchise, salesman.

Don't disagree bud. My issue with Audi is their hypocrisy. On one hand they flood the market and on the other they want to maintain an air of exclusivity.

Will probably be stuck with my S3 for another 12-18 months before I can consider an RS3......But after reading above posts it might be even longer..:frown new:

Exactly what I was thinking mate :) I think we all rely on electronic systems too much these days. I remember being 23 and having a Vauxhall Carlton CDXi auto, which was a massive saloon without any sensors or reverse camera, yet I never hit any walls or parked cars lol! I bought it off my dad who had owned it since new, private sales were about £3k but the garage were going to give him £800px...so for that price I had it and sold my Mk2 Astra SRi :) Think I ran it for about 4 years, which is the longest I've owned any car.

None of your pano roofs or 19" wheels in those days @S32B eh lol
A pop up sunroof which didn't leak was considered luxury ha ha!

The ultimate Golfing saloon of its time. I had a Cavalier 1.8GSI (welll it was actually my mates dad's who snapped his leg in three places and couldn't drive for 12 months so I had it!!!). I was 17 at the time and drove a Escort 1.3 Laser (with sunroof that didn't leak) but it got parked up. Got pulled about 10 times in the 12 months I drove it. Cops thought I'd nicked it!!! Great car, saloon in white. Ah, the memories!

S32B, I also had one of these when I was a young lad (many years ago) It was a beast! As you say, no fancy driver assistance aids back then,,,,,did I just hit a wall, ah no worries it will match the scrapes down the side.

RVC should never encourage lazy driving I still check my mirrors and look over my shoulder but find the RVC particularly useful at night when you can't see anything it has good low light performance and comes in very useful especially with the larger MMI screen which I believe is now standard on the F/L.

I do like the idea of one of these next, finances permitting but is it just me or are Audi fitting some disappointing wheels to their performance models now?
These don't loo 'meaty' enough for an RS imho.
Might not be what they actually fit once released?
At least they can be changed I guess.

Agree with you mate...Given the option I would fit the wheels that are on my current S3
