Hello, I'm Dom, 22 from Leeds (23 in a few days, getting old).

Come Saturday I will be collecting my new car, 2010 Audi A3 1.8TFSI Black Edition in Phantom Black, I went and viewed it earlier on in the week and just couldn't say no! :D

Here is a picture I took one the day

Here's a collection of my car history:

First of all was my Escort 1.3, which I purchased for the lovely price of £525 back in July 2008, didn't let me down in the two years I owned it, flew through every MOT easily, was solid in all the right places...I still regret selling it now! Only thing I changed was to buy some colour coded bumpers :)

Then, I purchased my first GTI badged car, 2001 6N2 Polo. Cost me around £2200 at the time, low mileage, good condition overall. I did a few bits and bobs to it over the year I owned it, lowered 30mm all round, 16" BBS alloys and just a general tidy up. Still the best looking car I've owned, I would always catch people admiring it.

When I got it:

After that Polo, came another Polo. 2007 Polo GTI purchased from Bolton VW (set of basterds, the whole process was a nightmare, I should of just taken the car back really, it was cursed from the start). Only owned this car from about 9 months, as it ended up in a ditch, on fire, with me stuck inside it! Luckily I took out gap insurance so got back all that I paid for it. The car had already been modified by the previous owner, black roof/mirrors, remapped and a Forge DV. The quickest car I've owned to date, would spin the wheels in 3rd easily, even when I had Michelins on. During the time I owned it, I lowered the car by 35mm, had the wheels refurbished in anthracite and various other small stuff, typical it was just after I had got everything done (including cambelt/water pump, 4 brand new michelins) that it was written off, oops!

Just before I lowered, the cleanest picture of it, so shiny :( I miss it

And then my current Polo, bought as a replacement for the red one in June 2012, but just didn't feel the same and I've never been happy with it since the day I bought it. Also needed work when I bought it, front pads, rear discs and pads, cambelt water pump, 2 new tyres, a few engine valves were faulty causing bad idle and EML to come on.

Dashboard rattle on a Polo? No problem!

Welcome matey, A3 looks very nice! You'll love driving the Audi after coming from a smaller car like a Polo (I went from a Clio to my current A3).

Where abouts in Leeds you based?

Hello and thanks! :) I'm not too sure about mods yet, I've been looking into the Dension kit to play music as a start, then maybe go down the RNS route in a few months time :) I will have a look at the local section, thanks!

Thanks! Yeah I've driven plenty of Audi's before, the quality compared to VW (even Golfs) is just far superior, no more rattling dashboards for me lol

I live in Chapel Allerton, work in Headingley

I can see in your signature you have LED numberplate bulbs, I'd love some of these but not sure how to go about it, do OEM ones work with 2010 cars, as I think it has the bulb warning system

Ah right, I live in Rothwell but I'm sometimes up that way so may see me about.

As mine's 2007, they worked fine with no errors. On the new A3's though, I think they work but flag up a bulb error on the dash but resistors can be bought that fit to get around this problem, don't quote me though. T8ups, a member on here, sells LED bulbs which will work though if you don't mind them not being OEM.

I'll keep my eye out, any distinguishing features on your car to look out for?

Yeah I've been reading around and it seems like a bit of a hassle when it comes to anything 2010 onwards! :( I'm not too bothered about them being OEM, as long as the quality is good and they aren't too 'in your face'. I have these on my Polo at the moment and they are perfect

Oh and I wouldn't mind a set of 18" speedlines, they seem hard to come by?!

You'll be able to notice me at this moment in time, it's probably the dirtiest A3 around . I have MY11 rears on a 56 plate which isn't too common.

Drop T8ups a PM on here, he'll sort you out, bought my interior LED's from him, very helpful guy. If they're too bright, then you can always just stick a bit of tinting film/Lamin-X over them to dim them down.

Speedlines don't come up too often, although they aren't the rarest of wheels. On here and eBay seem to be the best places to get some.
