My 2018 A7 is going to need 4 new boots soon.

It currently has 255/35 R21 Bridgestone turanza T005 on. These seem to be have discontinued as can not find them anywhere.

Any recommendations? Asda tyres has Pirelli P zeros for £253 each . £1k on tyres lol

I think Asda worked out best for me too when I had an A7 because they were running voucher codes etc. Even less than the likes of Blackcircles/Tyre shopper

I had stuck with Conti's after a very bad experience with Dunlops shredding (known issue with the A7 and Dunlops!) and they held out well before I chopped it in last year.
I do not miss shelling out for 21" tyres although 20's are not that far off

Im running P Zero's on my summer rims (20") and Goodyear Ultragrip + on my winter rims (19")

I have a very friendly independent tyre dealer close to me, who is happy to have any online purchases shipped direct to them - regardless of who the supplier is. They also store whatever rims Im not using in their warehouse for £30 a year, including changeover fitting.

There are, as Im sure you're finding out, literally thousands of online tire dealers, some will only ship to an approved installer, others will ship to whatever address you supply. I ended up purchasing from https://www.tyres-guru.co.uk (UK Based) however the tires were shipped direct from Germany - but with Brexit now in full force I'd be wary of potential import charges for European sourced tires.

I spent hours hunting down online tires - its a minefield. At one point Kwik-Fit online were my P Zero supplier as they had a deal on a buy 2 get £50 off.

Happy hunting :racer:

the Turanza T005 are not discontinued, they just sell out very quickly. I've some on back order through my local Audi dealer who price matched Asda a few weeks ago. due back in stock early Feb.

I replaced my Pirellis with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5s in December - best deal on those at the time was Blackcircles, fitted at my local National tyre place.

Very happy with the Goodyears, better comfort & noise levels than the Pirellis or the Vredesteins I had previously.

Hi mate, any news on your mate running those 21” radars? I’m looking at getting 2 for my 3.0 TDI as I can’t afford £580 at the moment as I’ve gotta replace both front suspension wishbone arms (picked up on Halfords Major Service). Cheers pal

he swears they are ok but confesses he is a slow driver and uses the car delivering food from his cafe all day and was not liking premium prices for premium tyres so thats all i know

Fair one mate. I hate diverting from Pirelli’s and Dunlop’s but it is what it is. Cheers pal

I’m in need of new tyres too. Fronts are on the limit now and rears got a mill or two left. Gonna change all 4 as it’s a Quattro. I’m getting Michelin pilot sport 4s. 275/30/21, Cheapest I found was Kwickfit @ £1056.

Radars come in at about £190 a corner and found a non branded on black circles for £115 a corner. But they look sold out.

Ouch, prices ain’t cheap with those 21” bad boys!!!

I found a set of 4 Kumho tyres on eBay for £699.99. Done some research and they seem to be pretty decent. Efficiency is not too good (E) but the grip is highly rated (A).

Yeah not cheap bout I got 20k miles out the last set so not too bad. When I brought the A7, my mate who works at Audi said make sure it has decent tyres on them, as these big Audi’s don’t drive well on cheap tyres.

yeah my friend who bought the radars, his friend owns a tyre place so that was cost price per tyre and he says they have shot up in price and struggling to get them , he blames brexit for import taxes and lead times on orders .

ive went down to 20" and the prices and availability are much more palatable

kumho are decent ive got kumho on mine and had them on previous cars and noticed a huge jump from the budgets.
hankook on her motor are decent

landsail seem to be getting hype on bmw forums etc

Fair one. I just bought two 21” Radar Tyres for my A7. £100 each, brand new. Gonna see how they hold up in comparison to the Dunlop’s.

Kwick fit have finally managed to come around the fit my tyres. After a week of 3 cancelled visits . Only used them because they came it the cheapest. Now I know why . Managed to got them for £1000 all in. But will be getting some goodwill off them too, for there **** service.

I would have taken the quote to audi and got them to price match lol

But then again Audi wouldn’t come out to you, you would have to take the car to them.

Managed to get a £100 goodwill refund from Kwick fit for messing me about. So the final price comes to £900.50 (plus £26 via Quidco). So I’m happy with that.

UPDATE!
Yo what’s going on guys, so the two Radar tyres I bought and fitted (front) last year have lasted and are due to be changed this month. Lasted almost a year, not bad at £100 per tyre and given that I’ve done 13000 miles in them with mainly motorway miles but had some fun sessions here and there.

In the past a few years after my issue with Kumho I was through a few sets of tyres as I change several sets of wheels and I found out that for my needs :) every set works well !
Had Goodyear's on my 18"
Had Barum 19" on my Oz wheels ,
Then Continental on my S4
Then Vredestein on my BMW ...
For what I'm using my cars in the last 5 years even budget will do me so this is why now on my A7 for 21" I choose Kumho again !
Back in the days I had reimbursement for 2 of the tyres which were over 40% thread left !

What I want to say is - buy what you need not what someone tells you

Interesting that people are experimenting with different brands, I recently replaced my fronts with the same pirelli pzeros that the car came with from dealership. But i did find some tyres that i would have liked to try instead, but was told by the supplier that for insurance reasons it was best to go with OEM spec tyres with the AO stamp on? also i read that all four tyres on a quattro should ideally be the same as opposed to different brands? as it could mess up the diff?

Ive used the P-Zeros AO's (265/35/20's) on my S7 since new, and never had any issues. Im on my 2nd set now, and about to go to my 3rd set.
I do use Goodyear Ultra Grip winter tyres on 19" Alloys between Late November and mid March.

Recently went online hunting for the PZ's and found them to be quite expensive (like everything else these days) anything between £224 - 285 each depending on who you look at.

I did find an eBay seller, selling new PZs for under £200 each (buying 4) with delivery to local fitting centre and installation for £60 Thats quite a healthy saving over the rest of the suppliers.
  • On the tyres, Audi recommendation is to try and have matched pairs per axle. You can mix brands (front and rear) but not generally recommended
  • Regarding the diff - Ive been running Quattros for about the last 12 (ish) years, and never had an issue with tires being unequal rolling diameters on the same axle - i.e. 2-3mm difference, but I do try and replace in pairs if I have too, or move them around to try and stay equal where possible
  • Ive not heard the one about AO only or invalidate your insurance, so Im calling BS on that one!
  • Independent Audi/VW Specialists can also update your digital service record if they have the equipment to do this - Mine does (in Southampton) Usually shows up on the myAudi app with a few days.

Yeah I thought the AO excuse was odd, but it came from a reputable online tyre store! i was thinking surely it would be against some anti-competition regulation. anyhow I ended up staying with pzeros, even though they were the most expensive option at the time. in the past I've always swore by conti sport contacts or goodyear eagle.
