New VCDS user

Hey all,

Just purchased a VCDS cable from Gendan, should be arriving tomorrow. I feel like I'm in a safe place here to ask questions when I inevitably come to a code that I need deciphering.

Got the cable mainly for diagnostics since I've had the engine light pop up twice (first one was plugged in and cleared due to an EVAP fault code - didn't get a chance to get the code before it was cleared but I think it's down to the PCV which will be changed tomorrow). The engine light popped up again yesterday which I am hoping to diagnose tomorrow - hoping it is the same fault. No other fault codes came up during the last full auto-scan which was only about 2 weeks ago so I'm quietly hopeful it's the same problem. I'll update tomorrow with the results from the scan. I've had the squeaking, little birdie noise from under the bonnet too these last 2 days which I believe is linked to the faulty PCV.

May eventually learn how to code in the necessary features if or when they are required too. I love a challenge so let's dive into the world of VCDS

Thanks for your comments Paul. Yes, genuine was the only choice for me, I wouldn't trust anything other than genuine going into my car or computer! First scan is on the way

First auto-scan below. LEDs causing issues which I know about, resistors for the DRLs are due today and some new bulbs from Trups for the sidelights coming soon
The engine ones are the ones getting me. The intake air leak - it's got a ramair filter on it from the previous owner but I'm not sure it was ever mapped so the car may be confused. It's also got a Milltek race cat on it which is potentially causing that emissions issue.

Edit: checking the error codes on Ross-Tech shows a possible PCV failure as a reason for the code which is half what I suspected. I have a forge PCV delete plate inbound - annoyingly it's delayed until tomorrow so I can't fit it until then. Oil catch can will be fitted soon to complete the setup.

What's the usual procedure with this - fit the new part, clear codes and then re-scan?

OK, update since the scan. Changed the PCV to the Forge delete plate, cleared the faults and the MIL light went off. Still showed up an error as follows.

Checked all the connections, no obvious leaks. Cleaned the MAF sensor and re-scanned and it seemed to clear all the errors. Potentially need a new MAF sensor? What's odd is I have a very strange knocking noise around the cone filter of the intake. I'll add a link to the noise below, trying to figure this out now. I'm about to purchase a new brake booster hose unit as well since I have had a crack in that for the last week I've seen. I've changed the damaged line since as a temporary fix but to be safe I have seen this one online.
