European drivers are picky when it comes to winter tyres. Performance, road holding, grip and excellent hold on snowy roads are all important… Such are the findings that have emerged from a study conducted by Goodyear on its consumer’s expectations. To satisfy them, the manufacturer has used these findings to develop their high performance tyre: The UltraGrip 8 Performance.

It is evident that the work has paid off: The UltraGrip 8 Performance has featured on the podiums of numerous European Car magazine tests.

For example, Automotomag has recently tested the tyre in its 225 45 R17 dimension. The results place the UltraGrip 8 Performance 1st on snow and 4th on asphalt.

The tyre also underwent testing by the German testing and certification body TÜV SÜD. This comparative test compares the average results of three leading competitors on the snow.

The UltraGrip 8 Performance excelled, with the following results:

  • 6% shorter breaking distance on snow
  • 3% better handling performance on snow
  • 2% more resistance to aquaplaning

These improvements are the result of new innovative technologies, for example the combination of three different types of sipes : standard, hybrid and 3D. This combination allows the tyre to keep control and stability at high speed.
