Till you start adding extras . I configured a 40TFSI and that came out at 38k before discount !

and by extra's you mean, actual basic necessities !

I would actually believe that there has been a conversation in an Audi board room at some stage wondering if they could get away with charging the custom for the air in the tyres.

Where are you speccing up the new vehicle?

Can't wait to get one of these, my current A3 lease is up in October and i'm going to have to see what my dealer can do - I will say though, those vents are a little on the odd side.

Looks like a tractor and a spaceship had an inbred baby.
I agree, looks like my 2017 S3 Saloon will be my last Audi. They really have lost the plot need to sack design teams and start over.

Audi have played it very safe with the design i like the look of the exterior but I'am not sold on the interior I guess seeing one in person will help with that to make a decision . Happy to hear the S3 will have 333 bhp which is a decent bump in power from the current model . Any news on when we will see the S3 make an appearance ?

Went on Carwow mate
Just went into carwow, no 2020 model:

Exterior isn’t too bad, different style alloys for a change but that interior is horrid, the vents look awful.

If you cant afford it dont buy ....simples

As expect there usual thorough review

Too much waffle for me, had to stop watching. Nothing original here really as this A3 is the result of the Q2 and Q3 bumping uglies. All of the design "queues" and "mixed materials" have been taken from the Q's and are a step back in my opinion as its all very plastic and "scratchy". Is a shame :(

Edit: Tech has a much needed boost however but again everything has been borrowed from the baby Q's.

if you have Tech Pack on the current A3 I don't really think there is much of an upgrade other than the parking space thing it mentioned in the carwow review and USB C instead of A (although that might be annoying for some)

I can't believe you still won't be able to put maps from carplay on to the VC, that's a real shame.

****** hell.

As much as I wanted to, I didn’t buy another Audi this time round, mainly because the new S3 was still a long way off (it took 7 or 8 months to get the last one, and I hate waiting), and due to the latest trend for the S cars becoming diesel or auto (or both ***) only.

That lack of choice sent me hunting for something new. I ended up going right off track with the car I now have, and that very nearly didn’t make it due to its fake leather (ugh) and weird dashboard.

Somehow, Audi seem to have incorporated fake leather into the new A3, and combined it with a dash that looks like it belongs in a van. I’ll still go and see one in the flesh but first impressions from that video indicate that the sober, conservative, and quietly stylish design cues I liked on the old car have been thrown out, and replaced with something that looks suspiciously French...

Memory seats, RGB interior lighting, 360 camera, MIB2.5plus, wireless Smartphone interface and much more makes for some very nice tech upgrades :)

For anyone thinking “let the retrofits begin” think again. This new platform is gonna be harder to work with for most. Control module and adaptation security codes are are generated online via a special process and are single use :)

That interior is unbelievably fugly! How can Audi go from what was generally considered one of the best interiors to that? The vents on the passenger side of the dash look like the heater you see over the entrance door in a shop. Even in the video the plastics look very cheap and the switches way worse than in the 8V. Add to that the touchscreen media and there is no premium whatsoever over other VAG cars or even Ford, Hyundai etc. Exterior looks good I reckon but there is no way I could live with that interior.

I think the common theme here is that the vast majority of us are very underwhelmed & are not won over by talk of Lambo inspired vents or side panels !

The exterior is very much a subtle step forward on the current car to the point squint and it could be the same car but the inside is a massive departure and not in a good way. It does have a Kia or Hyundai esque look to it and for many of us long term Audi owners that is very unappealing.

Audi used to be top of the class but this car will not be as desirable as the current model and certainly won’t carry the same premium prices the old one commanded.

So about £5k more than the starting point a couple of years ago. Rather expensive, no?

Far better looking externally when you compare it to the bland A class and the ugly BM, as bear in mind this is only the sport model, not S line, just the interior is S line I believe. Wait till the S line exterior or S3/RS3, Its going to be far superior, going to be a beaut, genuinely love the looks. A class is ugly and always been way too understated, plus it’s as common as a bogo Golf on the roads, with A200 ‘AMG’ models lol. Admit the interior is more up to date but don’t like the dash. Each to their own but il be going for another RS3 all being well when it comes out

The seats in the Audi are awesome also!!!!!

See ya...

Seats look good, not sure how tall Matt Watson is but didn’t look like he had great visibility over the steering wheel and cluster?

Anyone else think it’s looking more like a SUV shape now? He said ‘baby RS6’ but I thought baby Q5... not that it’s a bad shape, just not an A3 shape to me...

you say that, wait till you see one highly specced in a garage or on the road. I was unsure of the new mk8 GTI, looked terrible in a video, yet there’s a insta post going round with one and it looks ****** lovely. The A3 they have in these videos is sport spec, so absolute vanilla spec...it’s not going to blow you away.

haha the Mazda is nice and simple, no spaceship air vents.
And like the rest of the Mazda offering, they’re light. No excess baggage there... Mazda may be derided for producing not quite premium cars with sub-sporting levels of power, but there’s more dynamism, fun, feel, and importantly, fun, built into one of Mazda’s wheel nuts than is currently encased in entire chassis of many of the German offerings.

In fact, while Im in the mood for a rant at modern car failings, Audi, BMW, Mercedes et al could learn an awful lot if they stopped benchmarking each other so much (which seems only to lead to a slightly incestuous arms race to see who can cram the most screens, LED’s, and semi functional tech into an ever taller, more overweight chassis that’s big on power and low on fun), and take a look at what the lower marques, especially the Koreans and Japanese, are up to. Mazda’s MX5, despite it’s girls car hairdressing reputation has a chassis that is sublime. You’ll learn more about chassis dynamics and actual driving in one weekend with an MX5 than you’ll learn in 3 years with an S3. Fords Fiesta ST is unbelievable, and Hyundai have a mid engined awd hot hatch in the works. The new Toyota Yaris GR is a turbocharged hatch with a proper 4WD system that harks back to the good old days of homolgation specials like the Celica GT-Four, the Escort RS Cosworth, the Sunny GTi-R, and all the other cars that still give me a slight limp 3 decades after watching them demolish forest stages on the RAC rally.

We need more fun and less weight in these cars. Not more screens, body creases that even Chris Bangle would have thought over the top, and ‘Lamborghini inspired” vents. Lamborghini inspired? WTAF?

Couldn't tell you what the price was two years ago for a basic A3 but that sounds about right. It definitely seems punch for a starting price.
So an S line with a few "essential" features for most is likely pushing £35-38k which is crazy money. Got my S5 for less

Hate it! Interior looks cheap and plasticky

8v has certainly been the best looks wise and interior

I paid less than what they are saying the new one starts at for an 8v Sline 5dr 35 TFSI Sportback 68 plate with Tech pack (new from a dealer). Crazy, although I'm sure the discounts will come quickly, can't imagine many people will pay the RRP.

A Class spectacular??? **** me you really need yer eyes tested, the jelly mould A class is looking dated already....not to mention that dash

It’s your eyes that need testing mate. The Merc interior is miles better than what BMW and Audi are offering, where it falls down is the quality of some of the materials

Lots of pros and cons on the interio. The cons (plastic, cheap etc.) are based on some pretty crap photos/videos. The proof in the pudding is go and see one in a showroom and then make your judgement call. It is the same thing for a colour of a car, you have to see it. Frankly, I like the integrated dash look with good forward vision, no stuck on IPad, and the vents are OK.

That interior looks as nasty as the outgoing Leon in base model form. All black, scratchy plastic.
