No RS3 orders being taken

I really hope that people get the car that they keep repeatedly going on about in here. As many of us know, it is a different thing to talking the talk and walking the walk. I'm just so glad I'm walking the walk right now. The price of the rumoured FL no matter what anyone says right now will be a real sticking point with some people. I think I got a lot of car for my buck, albeit 45k ish rather than 49k list.
Like the TTRS, I think the talked about price increase is excessive for what you get.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of my RS3 but I got a great deal on the specification I wanted and the entire package made financial sense. But 50k including options is just excessive IMO (for a car of that size).
And to top it all off, the new lightweight engine just doesn't sound all that... lacking in noise / grunt.
My advice, wait for the RS4.

Your comment about walking the walk is right Radman. For all those serious buyers hoping for good news, good luck I say. Hope the F/L comes off, in whatever shape or form it arrives.
If you are willing to splash the cash then you're going to have a grin on your face every time you start the bad boy up! I love mine... one year on, and it never fails to surprise me. It's certainly one of the finest cars I have owned, and the quickest.
Plenty of people talking the talk though... eternally stuck in TDI world, sniping at us proud 8V owners...
Gets my back a little you know...

TTRS lacking in grunt?! 3.4s to 60mph backs that comment up, I guess...

As for noise, I agree it sounds a bit quieter than the RS3 on the two vids I've watched, but I'll reserve judgement till I see a bit more if it. In any case, it still sounds pretty epic and better than almost everything (new car wise) else out there at that price point.

Wow you had a very good deal and you had yours new!! Nice one!! When I'm in a position to buy (January) I will be looking on the used market unfortunately, if there isn't any FL news. I'd rather have new because I like to know how things have been treated, but a used RS3 is far better than no RS3!

Yeah it was a good deal (on the slightly cheaper 65 plate) which was mainly due to repeat business, with the same Audi sales guy. Guy who I run my business with also took an RS3 off them too, which helped with negotiation.

I mean grunt from the engine, if you catch my drift... the pops / crackles of the current 5 pot was what swayed me away from M4 territory. It sounds utterly brutal.
But I agree, TTRS sounds epic. I'm planning to get my name down on a test. Just the price point that would make me think again, especially on a newer model RS3 that didn't sound as mean. It gets very expensive. Maybe they will tone down the TTRS though, in comparison. I will reserve judgement...

Still waiting :whistle2:

Just as well I didn't wait for the ceramics or the bucket seats as they were definitely no doubt about it just about to be "optioned" back in Oct 2015.

I have a suspicion that these 5 pot engines can take a bit of abuse. All the faster standard RS3's at Santa Pod last weekend had around 8 to 10K miles on the clock and feel more free reving than the cars with 2 to 3K on the engine (like mine).

I would say that the only concern i would have regarding finding a good used RS3, would be whether it has been heavily tuned (500bhp +) or regularly tracked and then returned to stock, or ran for many months with one of the dreaded tuning boxes attached (not inviting a debate on tuning boxes please).

I think a few of us experienced a number of RS3's being seriously ragged round tracks on Audi showcase days last year ..... didn't seam to harm them ..... these RS models are performance cars at the end of the day & is what they are designed for :sunglasses:

The tyres were knackered though after a full day lapping Caldwell in red hot weather .... literally melted lol :)

Stuck to the track like glue though - awesome cornering speed !

I believe they can take all the abuse, it's what they are designed for at the end of the day and obviously we don't buy them to drive like a nun.
I would just be worried it is a car redlined everywhere, totally uncared for.. they are around. I saw one flying down the M4 a couple of weeks ago, Catalunya.. not that it was easy to tell, the car was almost daytona it was that dirty haha. I am probably like most of you, quite particular of how I look after my cars and £45k is a lot of money to spend on something that hasn't been treated right.

Ok, so I've just had a listen to Shmee's review of the TTRS with the earphones in. I'd say that's as loud as the RS3. If not, there's certainly not a lot in it. Want want want...

They sound very similar to me and yeah, in Shmee's review he mentions early on that only some of them have the dynamic pack. So there's a chance people have seen a review from someone driving a non-dynamic or one that isn't in dynamic mode.

It is as loud I think, there is no doubt about that but they have toned it back so much. There are no pops or crackles and that ruins it for me.

No pops or crackles is enough for me to turn down a 'FL' and purchase the current car, it's half the fun.. they can't take away the crackles!!

I think the lack of pops and cracks are making it seem quieter for all of us.

I know SOL said that only some had dynamic, but the one he drove had the sports exhaust apparently and there were no crackles :-(

Ah yeah, it could be the SOL video I was thinking of, they were both at the same event. I wonder if they get on when they see each other, or whether they try and sabotage each other!

The pops and crackles are addictive. Multistorey car parks and tunnels are more fun than a lap dancing bar. The looks and comments that you get out a smile on your face as well.
Like I've said before, pound for pound there isn't anything out there that matches the RS3 for point to point pace, noise and stance.

There were definitely pops and crackles on the downshifts in that Shmee video.

Sounds so good for a manufactures exhaust! I must admit, the TTRS does seem to crackles a little more in Shmee150's video. I guess they may not wait for the car warm up and just give it a quick blast/review and on to the next one.

Having just had a rather productive Friday afternoon at work listening to numerous videos of the TTRS and RS3, I have to conclude the RS3 edges it for volume and sheer raucousness (which I prefer). The TTRS still sounds awesome though.

Jeez, I remember when 100bhp per litre was a big deal, that Mercedes is double that!

An exhaust will crackle and pop more as it gets a few miles under its belt and it soots up.
No point comparing a new car with one that's done 10,000 miles.

Not really true that, as in the original video reviews of the 8V RS3 - with Audi new test cars - the exhausts were crackling and popping like mad. Man style:sunglasses:
TTRS is more toned down, noise wise.
For the girls, you know...:tearsofjoy:
One of the options, apparently, is fake eyelashes for the headlights. I heard it's got a special compartment for your makeup too.:astonished:

Good spot! It's turning into a manufacturers 'arms race'.

Interesting timescales too. This is exactly what I have been saying for a fair few months now. When you spot a model out on test at the Nurburgring (or wherever else) then its usually a good 12 months or more before you can get your hands on one at the dealers (and even longer for one on your drive!)

We haven't seen an updated RS3 out on test yet, and lets be honest, if you were Audi would you put a car out there in the next 3 to 6 months knowing that Merc will shortly release a better A45 AMG not long after.
I would say it is even more likely to be 2018 for a 'new model' RS3 Sportback with plenty of new bells & whistles and no doubt lots of ponies under the bonnet too! Maybe some carbon ceramic brakes on options list this time? (the new TTRS has them)

It appears that a real man has to have stereotypical aversions to all things female.
You really are missing out though, get with your feminine side. You'd be more relaxed and comfortable with life.
Beating your chest whilst revving your noisy man exhaust in front of the local men's club must get tiring.

Craig, are you trolling me again?
This is getting tiresome. As much as your posts lighten up my day I feel like you're becoming my personal stalker... which is worrying.
You'll be hiding in the bushes in my front garden next, scraping your sausage fingers down the bonnet of my RS3 - you little green eyed monster, you.
