Can anyone list out when spark plugs etc need doing. Audi are terrible about explaining what needs doing and when outside of the car flagging up the oil change or inspection.

Cheers, TX.

Ps it's a 15 plate S3 if that matters.

Don't you have servants for that sort of thing then ?

At TX Towers :whistle2:

At that mileage you should be on fixed (annual) service. I agree that there does seem a dearth of information about what is included in standard servicing.

Apologies for what might be a totally useless piece of information, but I asked a dealer for the schedule on the RS3 yesterday and they can’t be too far apart.

Looking at the above post I'm pleased to see Audi are not on the 2 year from new brake fluid change bandwagon like most other manufacturers.
Although....it is curious that factory brake fluid lasts 3 years then subsequently changed at 2 year intervals. Can't make sense of that one.

my18 S3 hasn’t got a service handbook dealers say you don’t get one now. Without knowing what has to be done at each service I can see it being open season on owners.

On my RS3 plugs were replaced every 19k or 2 years at Audi!

That's a very short interval for spark plug replacement on a modern car.....I am very surprised at that.
I got to 41k miles in 2.5 years so had them done twice!

I’m going with oil / Filter every year, Brake Fluid / Spark Plugs every 2 years and DSG / Haldex every 3 years.

Really? They recommended that?

I will have all the services done at Audi but look into premature servicing with a specialist. So the 38k gearbox oil will be done with Audi, but might have it done at 16.5k with my specialist... will see how it goes.

This car needs to last, service them well and they should last a long time.

What gets me is Audi are so random with servicing, seem to treat every car that comes in differently! So the S3 went in with computer saying oil change + inspection, Audi said no to both and just changed brake fluid.

Did you let them away with that....or get a completely satisfactory explanation?
It is highly likely the brake fluid did not require changing based on the moisture content. It is very easy to test but very few if any dealers will actually test it.
A brake fluid change is usually an advisory item and unless it definitely needs changing there will be no benefit, but there will always be hidden benefits from an oil and filter change.

Ron.

It is low mileage just 7k miles over 3 years so perhaps they thought no oil change needed. I'd do it yearly but Audi should know best ... it has FASH.

You should be on a fixed annual service schedule with an oil change every year.
I wouldnt be happy with Audi "knowing best" in this case.

Why do they get it so wrong though? I shouldn't have to tell them how and what to service on my car!

Instead of debating it on here maybe research an independent

You clearly aren’t confident in Audi or their service centres

Any independent worth their money will be able to look after the S3.

Pointless criticising what are already known to be inept dealers and Audi UK.

Best thing I’ve had in the last 2 days is that the “RS3 labour rate is considerably more than the S3”, seriously.. ***.

Mine is having a service at Audi in a couple of weeks, going to see how it goes to retain the FASH.

I’m supplying my own oil. They want £190 to change it with the cost of the filter, I paid £155 last year for the S3 oil change including the oil. I’ve got an estimate from my specialist, £82 for the labour and filter.. popping into Audi tomorrow to give them that and their price match policy, should be good.
