Had car in at Audi today for it's first service. Car is 12 months old and done 5.5k miles.

Car was set to 'Flexible' service schedule but they rang me a few weeks ago to get it 'booked in' for it's first service (unprompted) as it was almost a year old. I said on phone it's not come up to say it's due anything but that I thought I probably should be on Fixed schedule anyway because of the type of driving I do so yeh fine get it booked in, person on phone agreed.

First thing they said this morning when I dropped it off was "why have you brought it in, it's not due", "cus you told me to!" then had same conversation about being on flexible or fixed, then they said will take it in and change the service schedule to fixed at same time.

Rang me about lunchtime, "car all ready, no issues found".

Got there just before closing. Obviously wanted me out quickly but I just had a quick glance at the health check. "Other - passenger side under tray hanging down, requires further investigation to see what is missing or broken" -£99.

"Why on earth didn't you investigate this today while you had the car for the whole day or at least mention it on the phone". "Oh it's a different department to service, were you at work? Maybe you missed us ringing". "You only rang once and I answered it" "oh well I'm not sure, do you wanna get that booked in Sir?". "No not now, I have to go but surely this would be covered under warranty?", "Not necessarily, the investigation would confirm that". Urg, that's an argument for another day.

Just had a look under car and yeh small panel behind front wheel hanging down, looks like it's just unclipped but no matter how hard I pressed couldn't get it to clip back in. I'm pretty certain it couldn't come away but will have to get it seen to.

Means another crap journey through morning traffic to get to the dealer, paying another £15 for courtesy car and leaving work early to collect and also them trying to charge me £99 for it.

Plus, just checked the service indicator in car and they've totally reset it so now shows oil change next due in 1 year and inspection due in 2 years, so now I'm totally out of sync.

Apologies for long post, just wanted to vent somewhere, the whole thing is just geared up to fleece us for as much money as possible with a nice covering over a shower of incompetence.

Skankers when my car goes in for mot for life due to Audi doing my cam belt and pump they send me a video of the guy going round my car. And it highlights any issues and if I want them to rob me to fix.

Like changing my led headlight bulbs back to halogen for £130 I'm like but you passed it last time yeah. I got some daft excuse different test blah blah I'm like nope took it home changed em over went back and it passed. So I make sure its spot on as best b4 it goes to them it DOD come back with scres missing from the under tray after cambelt wasxdone I phoned up and kicked off they sorted it

Not great at all. I don't get my car serviced at my local Audi but I think mileage does vary on the "service" offered. I get on with the people at mine pretty well, don't pay for a courtesy car and they aim to get a LFL car. Also just happy with just swinging by for then to look at something if it's small, but other dealers would not do this at all.

Yeh I got the video, no mention of it on there either!

2 Audi dealers I use I rarely have any issues other than warranty work which is controlled by Audi uk not them. Never had to pay for courtesy car either. It’s not a courtesy if you have to pay. It’s a hire car.
I prefer to use the dealer while it’s under warranty as it takes some of the arguments out if it needs any warranty work. After that it’s independents/specialists.

Like changing my led headlight bulbs back to halogen for £130

Led and xenon/HID bulbs or conversion kits are a Mot fail and not road legal in any way so they aren’t trying to rip you off but legitimately failing your car. £30 for decent set of halogen bulbs and half hour labour + vat is roughly around £130 plus they have to waste time and get it back on the mot tester after they fit it that they can’t charge for. Audi parts and labour isn’t cheap but neither are their cars.

Ah thata how they get you mate. I'm quite fortunate I have motor trade background. They wanted to keep my water pump so they could refurbish it and sell it on i was like hou didnt tell me this when i booked car in give me my pump lol. But to be honest since then I have a good relationship with Alexander Audi Huddersfield. Even to the point my car has been remapped they know to leave it alone

didn't realise dealers would refurbish and sell parts. Thought they make more money on the margins selling you new part. Learn something new everyday.
It’s good your dealer don’t care about remaps. Mines the same. Always asks me if I’ve remapped a car if they need to do software updates and connect the car to the mothership.

Man they just trying to rip u off .. just forget about audi service it is for naive ppl .. has no idea.. just go to local trusted third party garage and they will do it half price

Sorry I should have been a bit clearer, the £15 was to reduce the excess from £1k to £50. Obviously I could have avoided it but was in a rush to get to work and after the service discussion couldn't be bothered with another debate. When hiring a car abroad I never bother with their cover and have an excess policy in place but didn't have time to arrange something. Worst goes through your head when put on the spot. Like any insurance if I had pranged it I would have been glad I did pay it but alas it was a waste of money. Wasn't LFL either, SE or sport 30 TDI A3 with no VC, felt old but was brand new lol, and stank of cigs. Funny one was them telling me I couldn't smoke in it (I don't smoke) or eat or drink in it, then offering me a coffee to take away when I collected it, lol!

Yeh that's my plan to just get it done at Audi while it's new to save any hassle, although I've ended up with a hassle anyway lol.

But that’s right. With your low mileage the service schedule needs setting to fixed (ie annual).
I had exactly the same when my car was new. They omitted to change the interval - they are all set to flexible by default.
I just took it in after a year and they serviced it and changed the schedule to fixed.

I have never paid for a courtesy car either - not even to lower the excess.

Oh yeh I def should be and wanted to be on fixed, it just seemed strange I then had to convince them of that! Ah ok so you think what the service thing says now is correct? I assumed year 1 would just be oil service and then year 2 would be the bigger one but this is what it shows now:

Oh also, no proof of service, only what it will (eventually) show on the app (hopefully). I know I can request a printout but this doesn't show what was done, just that it was there.

You should get a written report. I have a complete set from my Audi services - each in a special folder!
Same from the Indy I took it to this year.

What does the written report look like? Any chance of a photo/scan obv with any personal details removed/hidden?

that’s the wrong way around.
if you just had your 9k/12m oil service then the next should be the 19k/24m inspection. every 2nd service should be an inspection. Inspection is the big service where they change all the filters and oil change.

It’s just the check list that they use for 5he service/inspection plus the invoice that details exactly what you have paid for.
I have never seen the data from the central Audi system, but I can’t imagine it has any other information.

Yeh thought so, RichardT lead me to believe otherwise for a second but I might have misunderstood what they were saying.

Another thing I'll have to get em to update then, you'd think they'd have the easy stuff sorted, god help me if there's ever something more complicated they have to deal with.

I'm on fixed annual servicing, and as you suspect yours is now set wrong.....although if you stick to what it says it will actually save you money. ;)
I had my first oil change last year, so the counters for my next oil change and also the inspection are exactly the same.
Yours is set to what it should have been when your car was brand new.

****** dealers. They’re pretty much all varying degrees of ****. The good ones aren’t even that good, just less **** than others!

Doesn't make for good reading that. No wonder you're not happy. Think you should name and shame the dealership !!

I thought it was every dealer, but whenever my car was in having a service or health check, I always got an `Audi-Cam` where the mechanic would film himself walking around the car pointing thing out that may require attention. You then got a link showing the required work with the price. You could then select the bit you wanted them to fix. If they didn't even try ringing you, then that's very poor service.

As for the oil change / service schedule. Matters not. Just book your car in every 12 months for an annual service. I did less than 6000 miles a year in mine, but it was always serviced every 12 months.

Some dealers include the insurance for the courtesy car within the service charge, but anything warranty wise, then you shouldn't have to pay it, as they when charge Audi, as it's a fault. So why should you be out of pocket?

Is there another Audi dealer near by? If so, let your feet do the talking. Go elsewhere.

And yet here are ppl who disagrees ..

"Bad service at Audi"? :wtf:lol. Get used to it, it will be at almost every visit you make to them, apart from when buying a nice shiny car...…… Even that can be fraught these days.

Every time you get a bad service then I think Audi UK should be informed. Audi garages in the UK are authorised franchises so need to keep up a standard. Over here in Switzerland the service is incredible, my UK experiences have been very very poor. You guys need to start protesting, leaving online reviews that are visible, recording names and events down so that people pay....

Some dealers take it more or less seriously, my local one does and they jumped through no end of hoops after I complained. Extremely good now to me. Others on here I think have had complete opposite experiences.

Fail, if they have put you on fixed as you do under 10k per year and you have just had your first oil change, then year 2/in 365 days should be showing oil and inspection service.

I've had my 2nd service oil/inspection done at the end of October 2019 and this is what it's now set at for years 3 and 4:

Oil 28th october 2020 and Inspection 28th October 2021.
28 oct

Update: So they rang me today to check everything was ok and I'd received "5* service". Bet they wish they hadn't lol.

Anyway, to be fair, lady I spoke to apologised a lot when I told her about it. Told me to book it back in at my convienence and they would inspect and fix the loose panel for free whatever was wrong and would check the service interval. Would also waive the £15 excess for courtesy car.

All of course on the privisio I give them 5*'s on the survey I will receive

So, other than the inconvience it won't cost me any more but still would have been better if they'd done the right thing in the first place.

They're putting it right so I won't name and shame the dealer and post this will be willing to give them one more chance.

Yeah because if they get so many under a certain score Audi UK are onto them! Same with complaints about the dealership made direct to Audi UK.
