OEM Air Filter

Evening all,

I have just looked under my bonnet and noticed that the small hose on the Air Filter Top Cover, Left hand Side, Front was not connected on the filter side.
Does anyone know what this is/does (sensor of some sort??)... Potential issues or effect?.

I think this is the feed for the secondary air system. If it's not connected to the air box then that system will be pulling through unfiltered air which would contaminate the secondary air pump etc. Your engine will also be pulling in partially unfiltered air so all in all not ideal.
