Hi guys,

Got a warning light today, saying the oil level sensor is defective.
Anyone had this issue. I believe the sensor is located in the bottom oil pan.

Done a scan on obdeleven and it’s showing this

My car is a A7 3.0tdi 272. 2014

Just spoke to a master tech at Audi and he said it’s probably a wiring fault where it goes around the sump, that’s what he reckons as it’s very rare for a sensor to go down on this type of engine.

It's not a rare occurrence on VAG vehicles but maybe Audi are less prone than others. There's a lot of them going on brand new VWs at the moment.

Ah ok. Well hopefully it’s just the sensor that needs replacing

So got an update. The part finally came in.
Went to start the car and looks like everything has gone to ****.
I got a “steering defective do not drive” red warning come up and a adaptive lighting fault too.

New update!!!

Looks like rats or mice moved into my engine bay and decided to start chewing up the wires .
Good news is I don’t need to buy a new power steering rack @ £2525. Bad news it I need a new wiring loom for the steering rack.

Can you not repair it?

Can you not repair it?

I can repair the oil sensor wiring as it’s not too bad, but not sure about that plug in the first pic. There’s not enough cable there to join the wires. I may just try and find another plug where the wires come out more and then repair it.

If anyone knows the what the part number is for the electric power steering rack wiring loom. Please let me know.

Could you not splice in some new wire, effectively making the loom longer?

Yes that’s the plan. But have to see if that plug can be re pinned, but I don’t think it can. Otherwise I’ll buy a used loom and splice that in.
