Hi, I’ve been having some trouble with my 2002 A3 1.8t. On Thursday I was driving in the city and the car went over the 90º C line but the temperature indicator didn’t made a sound or showed any warning. Today I was driving in the city and it overheated, almost getting to 100° C, when I got into de the highway it went back to 90° C. As soon I drove into the city again the temperature began to rise to 100°C and it triggered the alarm for overheating. I was able to make it back my house. I recently changed the temperature sensor and the thermostat.

When was the water pump last changed? The early parts had plastic impellers which broke off over time, and the later versions were made of metal.

When your A/C is running, does the additional fan turn on too?

Actually I don’t know when the water pump was changed, I bought the car 4 months ago. I think the fans turn on periodically when the A/C is on, they don’t stay on permanently.
