Hopefully someone can help.

I have been having an issue with my electronic parking brake on my Audi A3, 63 reg. This has been going on for over a year and is very intermittent. I no longer apply the parking brake being auto have no issues not using but most morning when I start it I get the warning. When I used to apply it I would have to keep trying to release the brakes but turning thr car off and back on and pressing down the switch over and over again.

I first got the error last year, I had a 3rd party warrany on it and took it to a local garage who replaced the left rear brake motor. That seemed to fix the issue for a few weeks but it came back. I took it back tot the garage who said they could do no more and I would need to take to an Audi specialist. I took it to an Audi main dialer who had it almost 2 weeks said the issue was still with the leff parking motor and ended up replacing a wiring loom and charged me £362. They advised a new ECU would be required if the problem came back.

That fixed the issue for a few months but it came back, this time the brakes were stuck on I kept trying for a few days but would not release. This was during covid19 lock down and main dealer was closed so got it towed to an independent Audi specialist, I told him the issues I had been having. They removed the left rear caliper and striped down the motor cleaned it and refitted it.

Again a few weeks later the issue came back, I read somewere it could be a bad battery as it was the original I replaced it but did not fix the issue.

Its an automatic, saloon, if that makes any difference.

Anyone else had the same issue?
When the main dealer say ECU would they mean the main ECU or just the parking brake control?
I am reluctent to take it back to the garage and keep throwing money at it.

Thanks in advance.
