Pedestrian crash protection?

I see on the latest brochure that all models come with some sort of pedestrian crash protection.

Is it the bonnet raising in case of impact (as on some Volvo cars), or some softer metal on the bonnet??
 
The bonnet does raise up. It's not an airbag like the volvo, but pneumatic rams I believe to take the impact.
 
Yeah seem to remember the book says it cant tell the difference between hitting somebody or a load of snow on the ground for example so you might have to go back to the dealer if you trigger it by accident, can imagine the bill.
 
According to the manual, you can push it down yourself, although if you have hit a pedestrian, probably some other damages anyway
 
It's some pneumatic / pyrotechnic rams at the rear which raise the bonnet lid. You can reset it yourself, but IIRC the rams need to be replaced by a dealer after being activated.
