Hi all,

Just wondering what phone holder or mounting options people have gone for, I did have a nice neat holder which fitted to the heater vent but it doesn't work with the circle style vents on the S3.

I don't like putting the phone in the tray under the arm rest as I tend to forget about it and end up leaving it in the car, would really like something neat and would like some recommendations rather than just buying something of the net.

Cheers,
Chris

For yours and everyone else's sake don't use whilst your driving!!!

Never said which phone you have... I use one of these with my iPhone 6s:

I just keep my phone in my pocket. Bluetooth works fine and I don't need to see or touch the phone.
If I want to see or send a text I stop.

If you have a phone as opposed to a phablet, you could consider the official Audi Accessories Advanced Key and Phone Holder, that sits in one of the cupholder positions:

I have a iPhone 6s as well, does the phone not fall out of that holder when driving? It doesn't look very secure.
On installation you need to put an apple original lighting cable through the bottom of the holder. This secures the phone just like an iPhone Lighting Dock:

The picture is of a slightly different connector but you get the idea :)

build quality is excellent and the mechanism to lock it into your cup holder really is very good. Fits perfect in her BMW cup holders, not tried it in my 8V. Got mine in an Apple retail store. Fits my 6+ just fine too.

I used a Kuda mount with a ram ball mount pedestal. Not inexpensive but looks great and like it belongs.

what is the need of a phone holder, other than encouraging use of mobile phones whilst driving?...

extension of the mmi ?? A lot of people use them for nav these days rather than as a phone, and nearly all phones are voice operated now so it's better than than the idiots who drive along holding a phone in one hand hiding it down in their lap whilst texting.

http://www.kudausa.com/ I believe they are a German company. The phone mount in the picture is a Proclip and charges the phone.I believe they are Brodit in Europe. I had it wired to the 12v system. The Kuda mount hides the wires. I bought a grommet and had the installer run the cable for the pro clip thru the top of the Kuda mount. Off topic you will see the remote mount for my Valentine one radar detector above the cup holders. The mount between the Proclip and Kuda is a Ram mount and adjustable many ways. The whole mount is very stable.

That does look smart, how is the mount secured to the car?

It clips into the trim above the glovebox and the trim alongside the AC controls and is secured by a small adhesive strip.

I'm really fussy about cluttering up a new car but it does just look like an extension of the dash.

looks a bit "taxi cab"

What I meant was, how is the brodit secured - was getting at is it screwed on or adhesive or wizardry lol looking at the link you gave it appears to be adhesive?

The fitting is as S3JOJ described above!

From memory the mount and holder will cost between £35 - £40.

One of the better solutions I've seen is this although I would retrieve it in a suede or better quality leather. http://www.kudausa.com/audi-a3s3-since-2015-black-a1933.html

I just use a Breffo on the air vent by the drivers window. More in the eye line that way and powered by a 2m extension cable from the socket.
