Boy offensive will you find me asking you to sign a petition about things that aren't to do with something to do with cars. Here is the exception to the rule.

The Met Police have come up with the crazy idea of using Eagles to bring down Drones. As the petition says this is crazy. Please add your name to the petition to stop the madness before it even begins

Done and reasons for:

"It is a stupid idea; it's a wild and beautiful animal...

Drones are controlled from the ground using radio signals, far better to jamming device - hopefully one that guides the drone back to its communicating source and blats the inter-communicating device"

I saw this on the news last night and thought it was a daft idea. If they are thinking of security implications such as terrorist attaches small explosive device to drone and flies it into target what happens when bird intercepts it and it falls to the ground ?.
They have quite a range on these things so the operator may not always be apparent but it would be possible to jam the frequencies these things work on. Or just have a purpose designed Hunter - killer drone to take them out

Alternatively a decent clay pigeon shooter could probably remove any offensive drones quite easily.
Signed.

Signed. There too few of these birds left in the wild. So let's put some more in danger! Muppets!

Signed. What a ridiculous idea.

This was on the news again today… sadly I think it’s going to take one of these wonderful birds to lose a talon before they will think twice about this.

Although it was the Dutch Police today, I notice that they were playing the terrorism card as justification for using the birds to take out the drones. I also noticed that they had some raw meat strapped to the top of the drone by way of an enticement.
I really think this is a stupid idea borne from laziness. If you want to immobilise a drone, surely you could jam the radio frequency without the prospect of harming a bird. They were very explicit today, in pointing out how the bird went for the rotors by using its talons. The drone they used was a low powered, hobby type drone with no camera or weight. Really easy for the bird to stop.
If they were to come up against a serious high powered drone carrying a load, (whatever that load may be), then the bird will almost certainly suffer.

So, you're right @Ghost, it will take one of these beautiful birds to come to harm before this madness stops.

If you want to stop an unauthorised drone, use a shotgun with a full choke and Winchester Buckshot cartridges.
