Hi guys

Looking at making the move into a new RSQ3 and have located a nice Sportback model in Daytona Grey with c&s and red calipers, unfortunately no suspension plus but coming from my current RS3 I’m sure the ride quality will still be better.

Firstly the deal I’ve been offered seems too good to be true, £10k deposit, 10k miles pa over 48 months for £368pm, waiting on the full details but based on that I was shocked on how low it was, how have others found deals on these recently?

Secondly, should I be concerned that this vehicle is ‘old stock’ and how do I tell before receiving the vehicle, other than the obvious of asking? I’ve been advised it’s due in the UK in the next week or so and seems the independent dealer ordered back in March which all makes sense.

Dealer has 5 star rating so maybe I’m reading too much into it and I’ve been used to paying exorbitant prices at main Audi dealers rather than using specialist independents!

The Sport Edition seems to be the sweet spot and although the Vorsprung is fully loaded I’m personally not a fan of the wheels. Am I right that there are more ‘driver aids’ in the Vorsprung as I’m not a fan of too much interference?

Thanks for any feedback.

Using basic maths, if the car retails at about £57.5k and you put down £10k, you are financing £47.5k. At £368 a month you are repaying £17.6k back including interest, which would suggest a residual of over £30k and probably £32k to £35k. On a car at £60k assuming there is some discount, that means a 4 year residual over 50%....

So yes, looks wrong to me. Sometimes they "forget" to add the VAT until you have got excited about buying it....

Is the £10K deposit what you are putting in or is it Audi deposit contribution plus your deposit comes to £10K?
I think Audi are currently offering £1700 contribution for PCP purchase.

Sorry chaps and thanks for your input, definitely having a blonde moment on this one!

Finance deal now making more sense, £541pm with £10k deposit and 5.9%.

So £10k + £542x48 = £35,968, so what's the final balloon payment then? £26-27K ish? 5.9% is about double the going bank rate.

So the OTR would be £62,520, you are paying £65,384 the difference is the cost of the credit - is about £3k, they will likely play with the figures to enhance their profit margin, its not a terrible deal.

Not if you are borrowing £50k. Most high street lenders wont let you have that much at any rate....

True, tops out at £50k and a rate of 3.3 or thereabouts.

With the monthly payments lower than what I pay now on the RS3 and trading in for a newer more expensive car I’m happy, will worry about the balloon payment at the end but have never kept any car more than 2-3 years so far.

excited to get the new beast on the driveway and back to Daytona grey which I had on my previous S4, beautiful colour!

or maybe, we all now the smoke and mirrors around interest rates on loans.... but lets not go there!

I just take the Audi finance and pay it off in chunks, normally from bonuses. Now cant pay anymore without eating into the GFV element and not sure I want to commit that much all in one go!

Congratulations, you'll enjoy it a lot. I see Audi have just announced the next Gen RS3, looks like an amazing tech showcase vehicle too. https://www.audi-mediacenter.com/en/audi-rs-3-sportback-22

Like you isleaiw I also took Audi Finance and paid chunks off, I went to the next step using a bank loan to buy the vehicle outright and then paying that off, that was 3 vehicle changes back now with the result that changing vehicles now is done with a massive deposit....

DtD OTR for that spec would be £54011.48.

Yes looks very nice but I’m not 100% sold on it and really fancy an SUV, the RSQ3 certainly the best looking in its class IMO and I like the mix of tech and an upgrade to my 8V RS3.

£61,520 OTR for that spec according to Audi configurator
I assumed the spec was "Sportback model in Daytona Grey with c&s and red calipers" as the Vorsprung models have the c&s extras included. If it is a Vorsprung then that accounts for the price difference.

Sport edition version of sportback. Audi’s nomenclature is getting confusing!

Have you got it yet? How do you find it compared to the RS3? It's something I'm looking at too over the new RS3.

Yep, had it 5 weeks and love it!

I guess an SUV isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and the new RS3 will be dynamically superior in every way…but, I really like the higher driving position, the mix of tech (big step up from the 8v) and some old school dials, touches of alcantara, the way it looks (admiring glances everywhere I go) and to me just feels a more fun package helped by the quirkiness of an SUV that still has the 5 cylinder under the bonnet!

I’ve had many a hot hatch over the years and just fancied a change and was lucky to get a great deal on the RS3 and the new RSQ3 costing me less, so a no brainer.

I’ve got the Sport Edition which is very well spec’d and to me the sweet spot, the Vorsprung has all the toys but I hate the Skoda’esque wheels and wasn’t fussed about all the extra tech with the 360 camera. Mine doesn’t have the adaptive suspension and was quite worried on the ride quality but even on 21’s it soaks up the roads much better than my RS3 with mag ride, however if I could have spec’d it then I would tick the suspension plus just to have the option on the ride.

So glad I bought it and didn’t want to go for the new RS3, the RSQ3’s shortcomings actually make its character for me and more than quick enough in this body shape, the subdued exhaust note thanks to the new regs also suit the car IMO, although it sounds better like for like compared to my stock RS3 with OPF.

Im sure a remap would unleash it even more along with a gearbox map but just enjoying it stock for a while.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks for the write up, pretty hard to find anything on the RS Q3, especially comparing it to the 8V RS3. I feel like the new RS3 will be quite similar to my RS3 since it has pretty much the same power but I guess it could drive differently. Not a big fan of the fake grill/vents they added to the back of it and the front doesn't look at good as 8V RS3. I know the RS Q3 has the fake grill at the back too but its integrated much better. I think I'll test drive a Vorsprung one to see how it drives, leaning more to the regular RS Q3 than the Sportback version. Did you notice any difference in the gearbox compared to the 8V RS3? Some reviews mention there's some throttle lagg. Also where did you get this deal? There's hardly any RS Q3's around.

No problem mate.

I’m not that impressed by the new RS3 but will need to see in the flesh but yes thought too similar to my 8v and wanted a bit of a change but not stray too left field and keep the Audi 5 pot.

I was swaying to the standard hatch to start with in red but even less of them around and a few more Sportback, however when I saw it in Daytona in this spec I swayed to the Sportback, plus I don’t need the rear passenger space.

Yes some have reported a laggy gearbox, no different to my RS3 if I’m honest but a TVS tune helped enormously on that so would be keen to do the same on the RSQ3 eventually but it’s good enough for me as is and I don’t have any issues pulling out of junctions etc as just pop it into Sport if I need a quick getaway.

I used Overton Prestige, Kevin there was excellent, great communication, good discount and dealer contribution. He’s ordered a few so has more coming in but mainly Sportback’s I think.
Keep me updated on how you get on mate.

Definitely more sportback's and I was looking at Overton Prestige since they're pretty close to me. They've added some more RS Q3's but they're all sportback's. Will have to see at my local dealer how they look in the flesh compared to the standard one. Was your 8V RS3 the PPF one? I had the one before the PPF was added so not sure if there's a difference there in terms of laggy gearbox. I know the sound will be more muted compared to my current car but I can always fix that.

Thanks I'll have a look.

Having experienced it on here when I had a Q5, not much love for SUV’s

I have a regular RSQ3 body shape and like it.

Just an update on this. I did end up test driving an RSQ3 Sportback and enjoyed it. Feels quite similar to my current RS3 Saloon just higher up. Major positive for me would be that you hardly feel the bumps in the road at all, way more comfier than the RS3 plus its got a rear wiper which I missed a lot. At first it did seem a bit laggier than my car but then it got better and felt the same as my car later on. Don't really like where the drive mode button is placed and miss the MMI wheel though. Strange that there's no alcantara steering wheel on it too. Also I imagined it being bigger than it actually is, it is quite similar in size to the RS3 Saloon but with a way bigger boot. Rear seat leg room seemed similar but they may have moved the seats forward. The car I test drove was pretty basic spec so my intention was always just to test drive it (salesman was quite annoying in pushing me to buy the car even though I told him this fact). Does look like it'll be my next car if I can find the right spec at the right price. Side note, I did talk to Overton Prestige but they had none to test drive, Kevin Overton was a nice guy and knew way more about the car than the Audi Salesman did who kept calling it an RS3-Q for some reason.

Glad to hear you liked it, I’m 6 weeks in and 1,400 miles and no regrets!

No it’s not much bigger in the cabin than the RS3 but boot is much bigger but a much more premium feel (except the gear knob!), comfier even on 21’s and standard sports suspension and I love the higher driving position.

You soon get used to the touch screen and it’s very good with the added bonus on having some controls like the heating still with buttons. I use the RS button on the steering wheel to switch between drive modes so no issues there.

definitely more leg room than my RS3 Sportback so yes maybe seats were shifted forward, another nice touch on the RSQ3.

Im now opening her up after the initial run in period, feels quick enough for an SUV but am missing the extra grunt of the stage 1 RS3, something to consider in future with the RSQ3.

Also just had mine PPF’d and ceramic coated, some more pics…

Do you mind asking how much it cost for ceramic coating and PPD? I need to get my SQ5 as well.

£2k for PPF - full front, wing mirrors, side sills and side of rear bumper.

Ceramic varies, I went for a more expensive 8 year coating this time at £600, you can get cheaper though around £400ish.
