Help Please Power tailgate not working

I have a 2008 A4 avant with a factory fitted power tailgate. It’s had its niggles over the years but generally it’s worked 99% of the time without fault.

I recently had a sill replaced which the doors were removed and now I have the car back my power boot doesn’t work.

i initially had fault codes galore relating to terminal 15, you know the ones. So cleared all of those.

vcds shows no fault codes relating to 6D powered tailgate and under the measuring blocks I can see the 4 buttons: drivers door, key and tailgate open being pressed and the one inside to close it. They just make the boot make its noise but doesn’t attempt to lift. I’m told by vcds the module doesn’t support output tests on opening and closing.

it would appear the motors just aren’t kicking in. I have power on the yellow/red wire to the blue motor, but I’m struggling to find a wiring diagram to know which wire is what.

I know a lot will be thinking I should just take it back but I have a really good relationship with the garage and they say it wouldn’t open when they did it but did shut on the button.

Ive had to remove the motors as the mrs struggles to open it against them but it’s only 4 screws to refit.

Take it back, every garage says it wasnt working when you brought it in, your relationship is transactional, they provide a good service that you PAY for, its really that simple, if you dont stand your ground for something you honestly believe was ok before, they will know future wise they can behave this way, everytime, its really that simple.

So I took it back. Said i wasn’t happy and it was working before. They said they’d get their diagnostic fella to take a look since they aren’t a vag specialist.
Turned out to have water corrosion on the unlocking latch causing the motors to sit and wait for a signal that never came.
So purely coincidental that it stopped working while it was there. Couldn’t put that one down to anything they did.
More cash spent haha
