Question about the jack

Sorry to bother but I have a 2007 A4 Avant and had to change the tire. Now neither I or the mechanic can get the jack back into the storage space to the right of the spare tire. The crank arm gets in the way. No dealer in town to look at. Can anyone help me with "the trick".
