I have just received the replacement fuel filter for the car in the signature. Hope the Purflux C505 is the right one. However, in the box with the filter are three items. The large rubber gasket for the filter case top, then a small rubber (Olympic) 5-ring, that I know goes onto the top of the filter-body inside. But there is what looks like a small aluminium washer also included. My questions is....what is this small washer for? Have not replaced this filter before, and in some videos showing how to do it, I did not see any small washer being fitted. Any help appreciated.

I think its the washer that goes onto a screw in the top of the housing, some sort of bleeding point or something (i'm not sure what it is) but my filter came with the same little washer, i didn't replace it as didn't have that screw off.

Thanks JimmyO, that could well be the answer for changing the filter when the top cap has a bleed-screw. Mine does not have the bleed screw, so I may not have to use it at all.
