Quick one

Another thing ...

Thanx to @MikeParkin from Apex Plates, got a custom short LEGAL 4D with gel top, number plate.
Quality is really great and Mike turned out to be perfectionist, looking in to every single detail on the plates.
He even sorted me out with some pushlocks that he's family member does.
You do need them if you have honeycomb grille and want clean look. Pushlocks from them come with extra inserts to reinforce the lock and sit tighter in the grille.

Both guys on instagram and both are great lads.
If anyone need plates or pushlocks, these two are your guys

Had to adapt connections but managed to do it without damaging original loom and connectors by making custom adaptors.

Would be good to know how you did this, I like the idea of not modifying the existing loom. Did you find the right plugs and make a small adapter loom or re pin the existing one?

Had some adaptors from other aftermarket lights and used them.
Had to brake the plastic of them to expose pins and then they simply plugged in to the oem loom connectors.
Secured with heat shrink tube and other end just plugged in to the projector pins.
Nothing loose and does work.

Already have them cables extended on the door cards as they were soo short that I could barely unplug oem lights.
Extension connections are soldered together, covered with heat shrink tubing and wrapped with tessa cloth tape. Can't tell they were cut and extended.

Soon more Gloss Black details on.

This one might not be peoples cup of tea but had no choice in doing it.
In order to preserve good battery health (replaced just under a year ago with new alternator), I've installed solar panels in boot windows.
I know, I know ... tacky, chav, rubbish, ruins the look of the car
Driving only 7miles to work and same distance back home. Car is parked for more than it is driven so might aswell use up the daylight.

2 x 20W panels (smallest in size and thickness I could find) hooked up to charge controller and directly to the battery.
Will get velcro to attach the controller in the spare wheel well.
Relay need to be added so it switches the solar charging off, while car is running.

Already arrived and soon in, is the battery voltage and capacity meter. Can connect it anywhere but ideally would like it directly to the battery but need to have it close for monitoring. Planning to place it in front ashtray.

If it doesn't work as it should, will rip it all out.

Looks like a good solution to a problem, I top mine up along with my partners with a charger once a month or so.

I seem to remember that a solar panel was an option on these cars, replaced the sunroof.

How well do the panels work through the tinted windows?

Need to double check, if I have programed the controller in correct way.

These panels have metal rings on the corners so you can sruck them on the car or flat surface with provided suction cups. Without them, I would go for bigger panel and cover it with tint film, on the roof but sometimes I have a roof box on.

Hard to say, if they charge well through the tint as during the day, I'm at work and come back out when is already dark.
Mornings are rushed.
Will check on a weekend and report back

Front ones scrape a bit on speed bumps but think it is something that I could live with.
Still waiting for the water test but so far ok.

Today had a car parked directly in the sunlight and panels charged the battery during 1,5 hour while car was parked.
Left home with 70% according to MMI meter so think it all work well.

Also, in one of the boot window got the flyeye vinyl. That cover the panel even more+tint.

So far, am happy with it

After a pressure wash and a rain test ... broke the rear drivers side flap
Block of flats I live in have a underground parking lot and management decided to add another speed bump. They did that on a slope drive in/out where you also have to stop to open the gate with fob.
Disaster asked itself to happen and it did.
Think this is where it broke
Need to take it down as dangling bit scratches the paint.

Haven't been here for a while but started few projects at the same time.

1. Got a pair of PFL front seat underseat drawers/bins installed the other day.
Install cannot be done on FL seats with same screws I got from PFL vehicle as they were too small. Used larger bolts and nuts in the front of the bracket and threadded in larger bolts into the seat chassis att he back of the bracket.
All works well and I have no longer flying things out from under the seats

2. Replaced driver door cab rubber seal.
Due to parking place I have in the underground parking lot, I need to kinda slid out from behind the wheel, when parked. Seal got torn by the latch and ripped.
Replaced with good shaped oem seal from salvaged car.

3. With all above parts, I got 4 seat belts to install for the time oem ones went for rewebb and colour change to AirbagTeam in Rotherham.
Expecting them soon in solid RED with black stitching and black button.

4. While got majority of pillars stripped for above point, headliner retim is in process.
Got a salvaged one so I can work on it and simply replace when done.
Suede (alcantara type) fabric in Charcoal colour is being put on it.
Soon to be installed.

5. Expecting soon to arrive new fog lamps grilles with honeycomb mesh in gloss black. They will replace my diy ones.
Better and more oem look.

6. Just received salvaged reverse camera and module with parts of wiring loom. Unfortunately, wiring loom isn't complete and wires were butchered out of the donor car, including optic cables.
New loom is on order from Kufatec and already spoken to "site VCDS magician" for fine tuning and coding, when ready and all parts in.

7. As a birthday present, ordered myself a proper Maxton front splitter.
Soon to be installed, soon as I get rid of the rubber one off.

8. Alloys got refurb and colour change to Hyper Silver.
Top job done and repainted centre caps installed. Done them in colour of the car (Oyster Grey) with Phantom Black edges. Chrome audi rings to come on soon.
Phantom Black bolt caps also put on

for all above started projects to complete soon

Module in holder fitted behind tool kit in the boot and cables provisionally run but it looks like Kufatec have sent me wiring loom for LHD vehicle. Cables will either need to extended or new loom fitted.

Awaiting Kufatec reply ...

Before headliner refit, I have layed sound deadening butyl mat on the roof. Have to roll it flat but looks really good and no shallow knock from outside.

I have also added some mat pieces in external B pillar black trim, between the doors.
Sound and temperature insulation have also improved.

Have also thick heavy duty cotton thermal lining bump on the way which will be added to the top of headliner and on the underside of each pillar trim.
All that should provide even better sound and thermal insulation

Soo ... after failed attempt of resoolving the issue, Kufatec have no after sales care service. They will respond but will not help.
Been only told to install camera module in the oposite site of the boot but got stereo bits there and not much space to properly install module holder. Also, if I install it there, power cables to the module have nowhere to plug in as fuse box is on the other side.
As Kufatec does not respond anymore, is not prepared to supply cable extensions to wire it from right side of boot compartment, I will be forced to extend power cables from left hand side to the right hand side one. Will probably hide them underneath boot floor.

Run all the wires alongside NS sills from boot space and connected to correct Can Gateway and MMI plug pins.
Power wires run accross the boot floor, under the trim and in to the fuse box. One spare fuse with permanent live used.
Just got wiring to the tailgate left and code it in.
Lets hope module and the camera actually works

Looks good that. Been wanting to do similar but not sure if wrap would last with roof bars going on and off on top of it sometimes. But I’ve seen you can get second hand OE black ones so thought to change that but I have no idea how big a job it is to remove the existing ones. Was it a big job? Did you have to drop headliner? Did you follow a step by step instructions or can you describe? Thanks

Thank you, chuffed myself bout it.
Wasn't easy to wrap it but tried and it worked out ok. Loads of pulling and stteching. Key with wrap is to jeat it up after completion so it sets in properly. Sun shouldn't lift it then and proven that doesn't. Had it in direct sun for the whole day, when last hot days were here and nothing lifted.
Inside part of the rail with holes is flat so easy but outer part is profiled. Have to lift the vinyl and push it in the grove, than wrap down and under.

I would spray paint it now, tbh for longer lasting as know wrap might not hold it long. We'll see ...
Don't have roof box anymore and highly unlikely will but roof bars back on them so haven't even poked the mounting holes through the vinyl.

Didn't followed any guide as there wasn't many (or none) available.
Whole headliner have be dropped and it is a pig of a job, must say
Did few jobs on the way, while there like seat belt change and sound deddening.
Also the headliner itself is now covered with sound proofing material from the upper side.
All pillar trims have to go off and the worst one (at least on avant) is C pillar. You also need to remove boot sides (not sure on saloon) to access C and D pillars and to do so, you need to loosen up/remove luggage rails.
All in all, a lot of clips to pop off, a lot of trim pulling and few large spline bolts to unbolt.

I had a lot of fun doing that

Kufatec have kept their word and delivered extended version of CanBus and MMI cables in a new loom.
Mock trial of laying the cables from where they should be and go where they also should. All looks well and loom now makes the loom that is should be bade from the start.

Already have an appointment with Alex aka @DJAlix from Vag Car Coding to finish off the retrofit.
Hope I have done all ok and actual camera module work.

4 Wheel alignment much needed done yesterday
Car feels bit more responsive and slightly firmer. Better cornering also and steering wheel stays dead straight.

Had A/C service with full oil and refrigerant replacement. Old out and new in, at the correct amount and pressure.

The seatbelts looks really good . Certainly brightens up that dark interior. I don’t have that problem since I have the cream/white leather but my seatbelts are so dirty I want to clean or change them. How easy was it to take them off and put on? Is there a guide you followed?

Cheers for that.

If you think black belts would offset your interior, got a set of 4 black ones cheap I was using in the meantime mines went for rewebbing. Let me know in dm if you're interested.

Still got rear middle one black as the mechanism is buried deepin the 2/3 partof rear backrest and hard to access without damaging it (at least for me).
No obvious ways to get to it as no available info on the net and no car braker is keen to help.

Mostly I followed available youtube videos to access them or selfthought.
Front ones are ok to get to. All B pillar trims to come off. Rear ones for avant are not that bad to get to but boot side trims have to come out. To move them free, you need to loosen boot parcel tie rails.
I took mines out completely as noticed the amount of dirt was there and decided to clean it. Also whole rear bench need to be out to access side bolsters bolts. You will also need tube socket spanners for rear backrests holding bolts, if in avant. Than to adjust them back in was a bit of pita
Access to rear belt mechanism holding bolt is akward but manageable.

All in all, good few hours(6-8 ?) of work and you should be good.
I have limited space in underground parking lot with cars parked next to mine and not a lot of light so it took me longer.

There are some general yt videos how to clean seat belts. Not a lot needed and can be completed in half an hour
