Reapplying for driving licence help

Anyone able to shed some light on this for me as I can't get through to dvla.

Near on a year ago I got disqualified for dangerous driving (idiot I know). I recived my d27 form to reapply a few weeks ago filled in and sent it away. Going by what I can see I'm going to be faced with a rather long delay in getting a provisional sent out to me...from what I've been informed my driving number will stay the same so can I book a theory test without having a physical provisional licence or do I need to wait to receive it via post

Rob, I believe that you need to be in possession of the provisional before booking theory test.
