Hi guys,

Just logged some MAF readings in vag com (done in 2nd as nowhere round here is safe enough for 3rd/4th)

Are these reasonable for a mapped S3 ? Works out to 250bhp @ 6440 rpm ish using the crude calculation (havent got proper vag com to do it properly)

RPM g/s

2960 19.03

3040 49.44

3360 65.78

3800 119.53

4240 166.44

4760 168.75

5280 184.92

5680 189.89

6080 195.5

6440 199.64

Mapped with custom code stage 1.

Cheers.

hm, im thinking about stage 2, but i really dont fancy messing about with intercoolers and exhausts as im so happy with how it is all working now, and i dont really want to fiddle much more so think im going to leave it for now !

Are you calculating it right mate? Typically its g/s divided by 0.8 so 201/0.8 = 251.25

<tuffty/>

Im currently seeing around 196g/s with the usual mods. Think my maf is possibly a little tired though. Equates to about 245bhp.

At what point in the rev range do you get the highest power output ? My S3 is now remapped to 260 bhp and i get 194.58 G/S at 5400 rpm.

You have to take the car up to red line ideally to get the best maf figures, best I've seen recently was 205g/s, but another run before or after I might struggle to get over 200, can be very unpredictable really...

Did a quick run in mine tonight and got 196g/s, only did the one run though, in 3rd gear to the red line.

mapping an ibiza on a hybrid K03/k04 currently.. 227g/s
another one with an actual K04 hybrid and logged a massive 250g/s out of it... almost unbelievable, but thats whay its read and a little more on 2 different maf sensors.. wow!

i get around 208g/s on my stage2, im guessing the download speed of the vag.com could effect readings to as it isnt continuos readings,?

its sample rate, which is influenced by how many channels you are logging concurrently and the port settings you have in vagcom itself.

log less channels @ same time the log frequency is higher

logging in a gear which gets a decent length log also helps.. (3rd/4th/5th etc) road depending of course

yea im only stage 1, and did it in 2nd so im happy :)

I know your happy but you would get a better reading in 3rd and 4th...

thats exactly what im implied! If i got that in 2nd i would guess it would be better in 3rd/4th and why i was happy with the result.

Can stage 2 be put on without FMIC and exhaust ?

Fair enough...

It can technically, BUT its ill advised..
I wont do it on cars not equipped with the neccessary parts
To do so is to rely on the ecu pulling out the extra performance dialed in (and some) and potentially do damage.

Hi,

I have questioned my MAF after taking my car for a run with the MAF disconnected. It felt like like my car had slightly more punch when disconnected (but may just have been a placebo effect). My car is a Stage 1 Jabba mapped S3 (AMK) with a recently cleaned(!) Green Cotton panel filter and Forge 007 DV. Here are my VAG COM readings from a short 3rd gear run:

RPM Air Mass Flow g/s
3400 44.58
3520 56.64
3640 75.78
3800 78.03
3960 132.28
4200 175.42
4480 162.31
4720 169.22
4960 173.53
5200 174.56
5440 176.97
5680 182.89
5880 187.14
5880 10.06
4600 132.78
4720 186.39
4880 169.94
5000 170.25
5160 172.17
5280 175.06
5400 176.44
5480 177.97
5560 182.31
5640 3.72
4440 127.72
4480 181.75
4560 102.92
4560 50.08
4520 17.19
4520 7
4480 9.58
4440 10.36

I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts.

Thanks,

ICE

I'd be wanting a bit more to be honest, i had the stage 2 Jabba remap, still with only the 007p and green cotton filter and when i have done runs in the past i've seen around the 205g/s mark, i wouldnt know the real world difference between stage 1 and stage 2 with the same mods but i'd expect a little more, your maf could be at fault...

By the way your readings equate to approx 233bhp if you didn't already know...should really be more than that

I recently did some MAF reading and reached around the 195 g/s mark. Thats with a custom code phase 1 map.

Need to rev it to the redline.I saw 201g/s the other day @ 6200rpm.

Also saw about 370nm torque wise today logging. So 251bhp and 272lbs. These seem to be the common results most are getting with stage 1.

Im gonna get a m8 to make me a derestricted charge pipe and then stick Stage 2 Revo on. Only thing Im missing is the exhaust system but how necessary this is Im not sure.

Ok, I just tried again and peaked at 194.89 g/s @ 6520rpm

I get the impression it's not low enough to cause concern?

Thanks,

ICE

Yeah I'd say your figures are fine, nothing to worry about there...:icon_thumright:
