Alright fellas (and ladies).

Just been browsing t'interweb, and found this :

ECOTECH

Reading the 2nd paragraph, they claim to be able to develop up to 300bhp on an S3 standard engine. Is this even possible ? Was looking at them because theyre fairly local to me, so before I get sucked in, is there a little white lie in there somewhere ?

^^Yep - saw the title - laughed heartily - then thought I'd post the fact that I did.

Maybe when hell freezes over.

It says they can do it without modifications such as filter and DV, then its next para says they recommend modifications are taken prior to the remap.

You won't get 300bhp without spending £3k.

I'd just stick to a stage one map to start with then add FMIC and other bits as necessary and when funds allow!

Thought as much - if they are VAG specialists, why make such a bold claim ? I might give him a call and see what he says - £225 for a map seems fairly reasonable though.

Good price for remap alone but i'd expect more like 250bhp which is still considerably more than standard S3!

You're better off sticking to reputed companies for maps though

Cheap and Good don't necessarily go together in my experience....

300bhp is unachievable from a K04 (even stage 2) as it doesn't flow enough air to make 300bhp... the K04 hybrid 'may' make this figure, we shall see... Bill has his dyno now so by the time Speedy Steve is ready for mapping and Bill has his dyno hooked up then we will know what can be done...

Extremely optomistic claims.
if they back it up with a before and after, and you dont pay for it unless you make their claimed numbers.. then its a load of tosh

and btw, its a load of tosh.
225 motor does not gain 75bhp from remap

LOL.

Ok, just gave the dude a call. He claims 265bhp on stage one map, no engine mods. All in for £225, 4wd dyno to test, lifetime guarantee on the map.

Did you ask him where the rest of the BHP had disappeared to? Do you have to pay extra for the remaining 35 BHP? LOL

I missed a trick really. I tried to sound like I knew what I was on about, maybe if I'd have acted dumb and put on a granny voice (ok maybe not) he would've sold it to me big time. I found a REVO dealer near to me, just went round to see what was what and the place was deserted. They were offering a free 5 hour trial ...

REVO is the way forward.....

Was wondering if the company were actually quoting for the 8P, but i'm sure mikes3 would've noticed.

300 - 310? Now i'm wondering what an 8P with a stage one really makes...?

To be fair, it didnt state 8P/8L ... think it was more of a broad claim ... If I can get hold of this REVO dealer, I'll give them a shot.

Sweet ill pull my finger out as soon as my bits turn up and get it down there

lets be fair his webpage state "close to" 300hp.

Is 265hp considered "close to"?

i would imagine if you wind up the boost and really lean out the fuel mix, you might spike some biggish numbers, just before the engine detonates.

its a typical Claim headline figures to get sales pitch tho is'nt it..

I wonder how many others read it the same as those on here, and rubbish it on their over inflated claims
it probably looses them as much business and creditibility as it gains them..

I no a couple of people that are running s3 round my way they also claim there running 280bhp of jus a map what a joke 70bhp just from a remap noway
there's also another guy in a yellow s3 recons he's running 310bhp and he ain't even gone hybrid when I told him he can't hit noway near that figure from the standard turbo got abit upset and said what do you no.
It looks like more them him!
