Hi Guys,

My name is Eric and it is my first post,hope to be a frequent visitor.I have a A4 B8 1.8TFSI 160 BHP.I am thinking of getting it chipped,my question is does the ECU have to be removed to achieve this upgrade or is there a plug in point in the car somewhere for downloading the new software.

Does not need to be removed, it can be flashed through the serial interface which is used for all the diagnostics stuff.

You will need to take it to a reputable dealer, search this site for some reputable dealers but i think the cost would be in the region of 250-400 ish.

The dealers will give you some good estimated gain figures.

But a search will bring up loads of info

Thank you,much happier after hearing that.Did not fancy the car being pulled apart as in some cases where ECU was removed somewhere the near the wiper and a lot of removing various parts.
