went into audi today to look at a audi s1. it is the demo car with only 1400miles on the clock and quite well specced minus the quattro interior pack but does have the supersport seats. BUT it is also with out a armrest and i know it may be little thing to moan about but i really cant do without a armrest after being used to one for soo many years. anyone know if it can be retorfitted if i am to buy the car or am i to look for one with a armrest already.

Yes, can be retrofitted. Not a cheap part though, £300-400 from memory. You can get it for half that on eBay though. Try Stoke Audi, they specialise in VAG parts supply.

okay nice one mate. at that price dont think itd actually be worth it. i have seen another blue one on audi which looks like same spec as i seen today and £600 cheaper and with a armrest. at audi would the collect and bring the s1 to my local garage like i know other garages do?

sweet may give him a ring tomorrow then and ask if it can happen. unfortunatly im trying to sell my 8p s3 privately though. i see you have the quattro interior pack what comes with that? because the one i test drove today had the supersport seats but not the quattro interior pack. what i can tell is the colouir matching back of seats and the colour match around the gear stick?

Yea, it's just super sports seats in fancy colours!
The optional gear knob is not titanium, it's aluminium, and it will be cold in the morning, and they scratch easily (I have a wedding ring). I originally spec'd it and then took it off my order due to the above concerns after doing a bit of research.

Audi really have not thought through the centre armrest on the A1. Spec'd it as part of the build and now wish we hadn't as you can't use the handbrake easily when it's down (it obscures it). So we have it folded up out the way all the time. Will maybe be ok and we will pull down if doing motorway miles, aside from that it's not much use in all honesty. Surprising design fault from Audi.......

While it does interfere with the handbrake and maybe the design could have been thought about a little more, I don't find it that in the way, just pull the handbrake up with your fingers and the armrests lifts with it. When I set off I am now in the habit of putting the armrest down with the handbrake as muscle memory, don't even think about it anymore.

When I was speccing my S1 order I had originally intended to include the armrest as I normally find them useful however as soon as I sat in the dealers S1 demo which had the armrest I immediately felt it was going to annoy the fek out of me it when driving. It just seems a major after thought in the S1/A1 with it being in a poor position when down (too high from memory) .

I drove an S1 on Saturday and have to agree the armrest gets in the way, car I am looking to buy is a demo with it already fitted, salesman agreed and said best just to fold it out of the way
