Hi there. I'm looking to upgrade the sat nav software in my new 02 A8. It currently has the standard fit SatNav+ which I find a little clunky to operate and can't search on postcode.

I understand it is possible to either retrofit newer software or the whole console assembly to upgrade the SatNav. Please can anyone advise where I can get more infomation in this area?

Thanks

It's not a straight forward upgrade.

1. The colour of the DVD nav is different to the piano black of the S8
2. The cluster will not display NAV instructions, no fix has ever been found.
3. The TV tuner if you have one will also need replacing, but you can go digital then.

Buy an A6 unit and trim it down to fit the dash.

You will have to be prepared to remove the cluster to get to the TMC unit and rewire the TV connector for the RNS-E Nav plus.

I think I did the first RNS-E conversion in the country for the old S8 and I have done about another 5 since.

Guys one quick question about the RNS-e retrofit.

I changed the position of my GPS antenna cause i had a very low signal.
The thing is that the GPS Antenna sits now only on its magnet near the passenger airvent.
Do you think it will hold only on the magnet or should i use something else to make it stick better?
