anyone know where I can get a good quality RS style grille that doesn't have the "quattro" logo? the b9.5 has it, is it possible to get one for the b9 S5?

additionally, anyone have recommendations for a place that can fit it?

im in two minds, wrap the stock grille, or replace it with the rs style one.

I quite like the Quattro logo to be fair but I believe most third party ones come without the lettering on anyway and it’s optional then to just stick it on with 3m tape that’s provided.

Most garages / body shops will fit it, it’s not really a major job I don’t think but does require the bumper off, few hours labour I was quoted when I asked about it.

A local Audi specialist charged me £80 (ish) to swap the grille over so it’s not a particular expensive job

Blackwater, so not that far from London depending on what part you’re in

Edit: just checked the invoice and it was £105

thanks Jonnie , that's the right side of London for me....what was the name of the place?

In the process of ordering my RS style grille for my B9 , can fit this once I do mine to see how tricky it is , I’m based in East London / Essex

struggling to find an insurer that will cover me at a decent price with this mod(dechrome or grill replacement with black OEM part)

the comparison websites don't let me choose a dechrome option...

when I eventually spoke to my provider over email(the insurer I'm switching to at the end of the month) they said they wouldn't cover a dechrome of the window sills.

tried to get a quote from Adrian Flux as well, they said they could insure me through Highways(LV Group company) but the trust pilot reviews for them don't give me much confidence.

it's annoying, I know for a fact most people wouldn't even declare a dechrome. maybe I'm just being too honest.

every other quote apart from my current provider for even a non modded S5 is over 2.5k.

By them saying they wouldn’t cover it does that mean they won’t cover the replacing the dechrome in the event of an accident or they wouldn’t cover you at all?

Dechroming the window surrounds is essentially putting a sticker over them so I don’t get the logic of hiking the price up. People wrap their whole car with minimal change to their insurance price.

I assumed it meant they wouldn't cover at all. but maybe that assumption was wrong...I'll clarify.

Or... don’t clarify. If they were ambiguous then plead ignorance if you infer it to mean they wouldn’t cover replacing the dechrome.

What was their exact wording?

They said "its not something we'd be able to cover, as its not on our drop down list"

Personally I take that as if you got it done, then had a crash they wouldn’t cover the replacement cost.

I’m no expert, but if it was something that would invalidate your policy I don’t think they would be so vague about it.

Hi.
If you wanted to PM me your details I'd be happy to another look at your details to see if we can offer any alternative imsurer.
Regards,
Dan.

Question is, where should i order the grille from? any suggestions?

Did you sort one mate? I've just stripped my A5 down as it's going back to Audi and have the RS5 style grill for sale, it's a gloss black one, the only thing I would suggest is potentially changing the Audi rings to a new set but that's more my OCD.

You can have mine for £100 + postage if any good.

I’m looking down the black oem route and didn’t even consider the insurance as it’s no different than a “black edition”. Similar with wrapping the window surrounds and bumper parts.

Yeah worth mentioning though as insurance will try to wriggle out of paying if they can especially if you were at fault. Easy for insurers to spot on a S5 too as there was never a black edition S5 pack released in the UK Market for some reason.

Good to know, thanks.

It was weird how they didn’t bring the black edition over here.

Yeah no idea why, Ireland got it as far as I’m aware, as did the S4 RS4 and RS5 in the UK, weird decision I’m sure it would have been popular :tearsofjoy:

Hi guys,

Is it possible to remove the quattro lettering off the RS style grill for example using hot air?
I can`t find any grill that wouldn`t have this badge on.
Cheers.

Most grilles don’t come with this pre-attached anyway. But it’s only attached with 3m double sided tape anyway so it’d be easy to remove if you did get one that was prefitted.

@Bells Thank you sir. That`s brilliant as my A5 is not a quattro and I really love the RS look grill.
