RS3 Dampers

Don't know if this has been covered before but I've a few questions about the dampers.
Cars has 48k miles on it and although 1 rear spring has been replaced the dampers never have. What would be a reasonable life for the dander ones?
Without specialist equipment is there anyway to test them.
The car rides reasonably on good roads but down country lanes with medium to long undulation the back gets very bouncy, limiting speeds well below what I've experienced in other vehicles.
Any help welcome

The oem shocks are awful. When they fail you can literally compress the shocks by your hands. So that’s why it’s so bouncy being the weight of the car is all on the spring with no rebound. Also another reason why the springs break as they can’t handle the weight for too long.

If your after a decent setup for 8P RS3 my friend is selling his Bilstein B14 suspension which is a perfect all round setup for the 8P.

I recently replaced 2 Magnetic shocks on a friends Audi TTRS, after one of them started leaking. He had the same rough ride(no damping what so ever). After I replaced the shocks, the ride was again comfortable(as a TTRS can be described as comfortable)..
I have another Magnetic Ride shock absorber here for sale, if you want/need. Has done about 50k miles and is in good condition.

The magnetic dampeners are only available for TTRS 8J not the RS3 8P

Didn't realise the RS3 8P didn't come with MagRide.. they were an option on the 8p S3 weirdly.. the RS3 8V did have them though..

To update on the damper issue. Have much improved the car without touch the dampers or springs!
Took the car to CenterGravity at Atherstone initial run and diagnostics identified wheels pointing in all directions!
It was clear someone had had a go at setting the suspension but also that some bolts had never been touched since the car was built. Pete set the car up with less -ive camber on the rear and all camber/toe/caster settings matching side to side. Last change was to reduce tyre pressures .
Car now drives very differently, the 'bounce' over long undulations is much reduced, steering is not quite as 'dead' as before and the car imparts much more confidence. May still make some spring/damper changes but for now pretty happy with the car.
Can't praise Center Gravity enough great experience, great result!
