I got the tyre taken off and used some p1000 grade wet/dry to take the top layer of paint off and then used filler to get it looking like this.

Now it was time to get some heaveygrade e800 sandpaper to get the filler down, this took a while but got there, my electric sander broke to so just carried on.

Once i had the filler down smooth i give it a light coat of white paint to show any high spots or cracks, there is one here so i ran a light bead of filler to get rid of it:icon_thumright:

once all the filler had been done i ended up with it looking like this, i was chuffed with how good it looked, all marks had gone.

And now they just needed lacquer, which i did photograph but my cam decided to error them :(

i ended up selling this wheel last year as my other 2 were damaged (cracked)

what i used to do it was poundland grey primer, white and alloy silver paint, p1000 wet/dry and e800 sandpaper very rough!!!

i did just to try it really i would have used a better quilty paint and compressor if i was doing a full set.

Looks good mate! Way way better than mine. I got a bit bored one day and decided to do it.

Super effort. Takes too much patience for my liking. I'd be ok stripping the wheel but loose my temper with all the filling and sanding.

If you're good at DIY refurbs you can always pick up bargain wheels that need repairing and end up with a decent set of alloys.

I'm lucky being a shot blaster and painter by trade. But you've done a good job there mate all by hand!

Thanks everyone for all your feedback so far :icon_thumright: , I will defo be getting hold of anorther set of 18s by the end of the summer.

Nice job there bud, when I did my ronals, I spent three weeks and twenty cans of paint on them, luckily I am a welder so any curbing I welded rather than filler, but the end result is the same, well done.

Would it not have worked out cheaper to have got them professionally refurbed then to buy 20 cans of paint? Paint isn't cheap these days :faint:

No mate, only £50, but since doing them I now work at a place that does shot blasting and powder coating, so it's alot easier now.

Jammy git. Powder coating is such a nice finish compared to spray paint.

I need to find me a friend in the powder coating bustines and a friend in the exhaust business and I'll be sorted
