Characteristic of the car sir said the snotty service chap when I complained by phone 10 minutes after picking up my RS6 from having the squeaky brakes looked at - not fixed - and the door rattle - no fixed.

Are all dealers crap? Perhaps they just do it to me.

Am I the only one who doesn't like to have people looking for the MK11 escort when I squeak to a standstill?

Rubbish, that's what it is. I've owned cars that cost 1/100 as much to buy that didn't have squeaky brakes. An old Saab 900 classic springs instantly to mind followed by an old astra.

When I worked in service I used to tell people it was non-manufacturer pads that would cause it. My cars squeaked from 4,000 miles (and rattled from day 1)

P'raps Audi are finally past their best.

Did you buy this car from guildford audi? we sold an RS6 the other week and came back the other day with brake squeal. the discs on RS6's generally need replacing at about 10,000 miles. i've replaced a few sets now and at the sort of mileage they do squeak. if this is a new car then the service advisor really is talking crap. the pads need removing, cleaning and the lubricating.

That really sucks that it is doing that already. I hate car problems, especially the little noises that happen. I have had really good past experience with that liquid rubber stuff that goes on the back of the brake pads and helps dampen any vibrations between the caliper piston and pad. Also, I don't know if the RS6 have floating calipers (one-sided) I doubt they do, but greasing the slide pins will usually fix it right up too. Good luck with it and keep us posted mate!

These calipers are the same style as porsche ones. They have a non squeak plate between the pad and the caliper. The pins that hold the pads in do also require a little lube. Go back 2 ur dealer and have a go, u've spent alot of money and deserve 2b treated better than that.

They said that they had stripped, cleaned and lubed them.

As I said, I got to the corner of the road and they started again.

I am more than happy for them to be replaced at the 10k service. I have paid for a service plan with audi financial services and intend to make full use of it because I drive hard all of the time.

I didn't buy an RS6 to look at the MPG reading apart from to impress my friends at my total disregard for single figure fuel economy! And Red Ken picks on 4 MPVs.

I sometimes wonder if I expect too much from my cars but hey, If I spent £2 on a sandwich that was crap I'd take it back, so why not a £40k or £60k car? Anyone that has followed the story of the S4 that I rejected last year will know that perseverence does pay off when complaining.

Any idea where you can get this liquid rubber stuff from? I've asked in several motorfactors and they've never heard of it..

Cheers!

No its just a clear little bottle. I think you can get it from Wurth. i'll ask about on Monday (6th).

Just had my second set fitted at 23k and a set of discs for good measure (God bless the service and maintenance package) and the ****** things started squeaking after 500 miles.

Are Audi using pad material from recycled Ford Cortinas on the RS6?

copper greasing will only work for a short time.....i have had the same problem with mine. Audi have said that the NEW high compressed compound they use to make the brake pads have got metal deposits in them which help strengthen the pad mould. Obviously when light shards of these metals in the pads come into contact with the discs you get that high pitched annoying and embarrasing squeeking pitch. I have noticed that towards the end of the brakes lifespan the squeeking has stopped. Cant wait to get them replaced at the end of the month again. To finish Audi have said that theres nothing they can do about it. Typical!
