Never got anywhere near that in 5.5 years. Max recorded for about 15 seconds 36.6mpg (average, not dynamic MPG), but day to day 27-31mpg depending on road type.

That is some limp footed driving!

Over the 3yrs I had my S3 I averaged around 27.

However on motorway runs I could quite often get 39mpg.

I even managed to get 38mpg out of my TTRS the other week on a 25mile motorway run. Find me another 420bhp car that will do that return!!

I can get around a 30mpg overall average from mine and up to 36mpg on a really easy drive in some days.

As you say, finding another car of that power or more that can do this is really hard.

Friend of mine had an RS4 for a while and never got more than early 20s from it.

Good old turbo engines.

Since I had mine remapped I can get 32mpg quite easily on the mway and I have seen 39mpg on longer journeys too.

I once had a super eco run in the S3 and got 415 miles plus 35 left on the DIS. So 450 if I had the balls to keep going haha.

Works out at about 42 mpg.

As I said tho.....super boring and never to be repeated!

My average over the last 2 years (80% highway) is 29mpg. APR tuned to stage 1, otherwise stock. And I'm light footed, or so I thought.
Best I've ever seen is on a "driving Miss Daisy" run at 3am with no traffic on a highway 20km drive-35mpg. Abberattion, nothing ordinary.

Anyone spotted driving like miss daisy in an S3 should have their cylinder block shot unless they have an excuse ie engine broke, tyres flat, admiring the scenery :)

Now Gone for stage 2+ apr remap. All I can say is fantastic and super cool especially with all the hidden functions through the cruise control stalk. Although the guy from awsome gti took me out to test remap and scarred the **** out of me. :o.k: She flys. And now slightly better on fuel How does that work lol.

It's the extra torque at low rpm.

Mine never did 30mpg before being remapped and even now it averages better than when it was stock.

Thats some good MPGs .....Cant wait to get mines..I only commute to university and back and some long runs.

There pretty good when driven gently. But. If you spank them they drink more fuel than I drink cider.

Things have improved a LOT over the years, and I think that even running a lot of power, and pushed hard, these are way better than comparable power engines from a decade ago.
My Escort never made better than 15mpg,driven carefully, and would easily get down to 8mpg if pushed hard.

where do you drive your cars???!?!?!

Got 41 mpg yesterday driving from Chester to Manchester and back - I am amazed at the MPG of this car :) I don't drive it slow and I don't rag it everywhere either.

Turbocharged cars tend to be more efficient so good MPG figures can be returned depending on driving style - that also applies to BAD MPG figures. My old Mazda 323 4x4 turbo (1.6 turb) would also return 40+ aswell as most of my GT4 Celicas (2.0 litre turbos).

I averaged 24mpg, could get 32ish driving at 70 on the motorway, was running Revo Stage2+ before trading in

Good question. These numbers are for diesels right?

22mpg average.
28mpg on a run.
Once saw 32mpg on a run from London to the North.

Thats for both a manual and DSG versions, both Stage 1.

Going from an S3 to a 320d back to an S3 was a bit of a shocker at the pumps.
Worth it though:thumbsup:

Mix of town and country roads......average only 40 miles per day,but the Escort was cripplingly expensive on fuel and parts.

I know what you mean s3alex. I had a full race mini back in the day and it was road legal 147 bhp at wheels from a 1340 cc non turbo. And that was shocking on fuel 8 to 10 per gallon if I was lucky but amazing fun and full straight cut gearbox and LSD was hilarious.

revo stage 1, i get about 20-25mpg daily, but i dont care about petrol prices. On a long run on motorway etc i cruise at about 70 and get almost up to 40mpg sometimes which suprises me everytime!

oh yeh and i done a trackday at mugello in italy, and got 15mpg around the whole track, that is pretty damn good if im honest !!

Likewise,I know what you mean!.....The Escort was hilarious as a road car, having been a GpN rally car beforehand, with straight cut 'box, anti lag and water injection, but the appetite for fuel and spares was horrendous.
An uncle of mine used to build Mini engines as a hobby and modify them and i remember one of his with the twin Webers sticking into the car where the speedo would be....

Escort sounds like a right laugh. My mini had split 45 webers. Sounded amazing at full throttle

Had twin 45 webers on my old 205 1,9 gti that was a laugh. Engine wouldn't die but rest of the car fell apart around me lol

Well. This weekend took s3 out. Gave her some beans. Now clutch is slipping. What are my options people dpf smf. Sachs lobo etc. opinions very welcome

Unless you go for Stg3 or above, then the Loba/Sachs would be the best to go for.......above that,I've got a Spec Stg3+ on mine, but you probably wouldn't want that.

S3alex. Sorry to be a pain but what is the difference between stage 2+ clutch kit and stage 3 kit. As much detail would be appreciated. Also where is the best pace to get clutch kit. And is it a big job too fit. As it all looks bait tight under Neath the old s3. Thank you

No problems.

I think the problem here is in the names the manufacturer gave to their clutches, and Revo gave to their maps.

A good clutch for Revo(or Shark or APR) with a torque level of around 360-380lbs would be the Sachs/Loba,and this will handle up to 400lbs or even a bit more,as mine managed to cope with 440lbs before we changed it.
This equates to a Stg2+ remap in Revo terms.

Spec make a range of clutches, and label them as Stage 1,2,3 and so on,but it has nothing in common with Revo or Apr's naming system.

SPEC Clutches & Flywheels: Auto Parts, Domestic, Import, Truck, Racing, Drifting :: Home

I chose a Spec Stg 3+ clutch as I needed something that would cope with over 500lbs,without slipping, and this was one of the few available to deal with that.

It's going to take a good mechanic a few hours to fit,and involves dropping the subframe so I would leave it to someone who knows what they're doing!

AMDTuning are agents for Spec, and Loba.

If you drop Ben a line he can give you a price,or there is a group buy on the Loba over at VAGOC.

Roughly how much for clutch kit that you have s3 Alex. As I want to go hybrid turbo etc at some time

If I remember,it was around £1200 all in,but Ben at AMDTuning can give you a current price.
