Hi all I have a 2019 Audi s3 with the standard 18'' star wheels I recently had three of my wheels refurbished
but the colour seem a bit darker than the original wheel that hasn't had any work plus the barrels have been painted black
pretty ****** off with the results as they were £150 a wheel :sadlike: My question is does anybody know the paint code for the wheels
as i'am taking the car back to the wheel specialist where the work was done and asking for them to be re painted .

Why kit get that fourth wheel to match the others?
I have the black edition wheels and 3 places I went said they could get a very close match to colour but not quite the matt type finish so recommended me get all 4 done or at least 2 of the same side so you don’t see they are different. Ended up buying a new wheel.

It's another £150 for a wheel that is perfect tho  another thing that annoyed me is the barrels are black instead of grey I just don't understand why they have done this I will see what they say tomorrow . How much was it for a new set of wheels ? not sure I'd want to go that for as I will more than likely move it on when it turn its three year old . I will get them sorted tho either way

1 new wheel is around £7-800 from Audi.
other option is look for a decent second hand set.

Spoke to the wheel specialist this morning told them i'am not happy with the colour and the barrels being sprayed black also give them the paint code
@mikemod provided they told me to bring it back tomorrow to have a look so I'll update tomorrow .

So I picked my car up today after dropping it off on Monday to have to wheels re done as the colour was miles out
they got the 4EE paint I requested and its a lot better but way darker than the original OEM colour to say i'am ****** off is an understatement
they did the fourth wheel for free so they all matched . Not sure what my next step is as I don't want to spend another £600 to have them done again :sadlike:

Wow mate I feel for you! I had three wheels refurbed before I sent my S3 back and you couldn’t tell at all and cost £40 a wheel!!

I know they’re diamond cut but you can get away with it on small curbing particularly if you’re selling or part exchanging.

These were my refurbed wheels… front left was terrible as the wife had given it some good parking skills!!

Like I say £40!

They look good but I think I understand what you mean it’s a bit dark. a bit more metal flake so it sparkles more might make it look lighter.
They sparkle way more than the OEM finished to be honest just doesn't capture it well in those pictures . I guess i'am gonna have to live with them as I don't think they warrant spending another £600 to get the colour rite . Never buying a car with diamond cut wheels again

They look quite grey don’t they? Hard to know what they look like with a close up.. you got a full car shot?

The curbing on each wheel wasn't even that bad half inch scraps on each wheel I should of just left them you live and learn I guess .

the colour looks about right but I think the Audi finish gives it a bit more depth. Not sure how to describe it. The Audi finish looks somewhere between glossy and matte finish based on this picture I found on eBay.

So I've been on the phone to Audi oldham today about the wheel paint colour as its doing my head in not being 100% rite
They have come back with Diamond silver 8z8/k80 being the colour on the wheels for my car but looking at the pictures open line
i'am not too sure . Surely there is a S3 owner out there who as had this issue who can shed some light on this ?:help:

According to Mikemods chart above mine is xc8/k80 so not sure what the difference is between 8z8 and xc8 but here’s a pic for reference if it’s something close to what you are a looking for. Another option now you have the paint code is get a sample of it and paint it somewhere and see if it’s close.

To me that appears to have something of a gold hue to it. Very nice actually but different to the wheel in question I think

The original colour on my wheels is darker than your wheels your wheels look like a lite champagne type colour .
Just waiting on another dealership to verify the colour through my chassis number .
I'm going to do just that get a sample and see what its like before I commit to doing them again

@Mr Freeze , @AlS3BE , your two above pics show P-Zero's being used - great rim protection! But what do you do in winter? Keep the P-Zero's on, have a set of winter tyres, or something else?

I’ve got winter set of wheels. My diamond cut wheels don’t see salty roads or kerbs:wink:
My new winter tyres are the cross climate 2 and they have zero rim protection. The pzero had over 8mm between face of alloy and edge of rim protector the cc2 has 0.2mm

looking at the paint codes with 2 code like yours and mine. I can find each code individually like 8z8 and k80 but not one with 8z8/k80. Does that mean it’s a mix of 2 colours?

I stick with the P zero's all year round all although i'am in Manchester where @AlS3BE is in Scotland I think where the weather is a lot worst in the winter months

So Audi got back to me today after giving them my chassis number yesterday they came back with code 4EE for the wheel paint code :wtf: so I guess the colour is rite my guess is the base coat should of been lighter than what as been applied . I'am admitting defeat on this one I think :sadlike:

Run with it for a while. It might grow on you.
I think they look quite good. Could try and find a decent set and sell your ones on. You should get a good price for them.

I have done that too until now. I want the rim protection, but summer tyres are not designed for use below 7c. I think I'm getting some light cracking in the sidewalls due to that alone?! Let alone poker grip etc.

Michelin Cross Climate getting good reviews and worth looking into as option, instead of full winters

Sorry, I've gone a bit off topic. I know CC's are fine. Problem is finding all weather tyres with excellent rim protection...

Dedicated winter tyres if you want good rim protection. Cc+ and cc2 have almost zero rim protection at least ok my winter wheels. My older sottozero had same amount as the pzero.
